Move Carlisle to the front office and sign Mark Jackson as the new head coach. Let him work his magic with Haliburton and Mathurin and build from there
I think they'll turn things around soon. A few positive plays can win a game, and a few games can turn a season around. They just need a streak of good plays and good wins
Great session Tony East. I refrain from commenting on trades as it impacts players emotionally and their pocket.. I think the rash of injuiries of critical players affected the rhythm and chemistry of the team... Let's climb back up the charts...
We need to get Bol Bol. He has the unicorn build and can shoot 3's. The Pacers are hands down one of the best teams for building up players right now. Bol has been said to have a bad attitude, but maybe a very positive team like the Pacers could turn him around into something valuable. Look what Toppin and Nesmith have evolved into.
I’ve had the same thoughts regarding re-signing mathurin after his rookie contract is up. Either they don’t re-sign him or they try to look for trades (toppin, nesmith or McConnell) to free up cap space
Mathurin probably departs and goes to the next team to average 30. Mainly because the team coach and Hali won't adjust to the player ...coach wants players to adjust to a system.
the 1st question reguarding chemistry, is sort of interesting considering chemistry.. when your missing 5 of yuour top 11 players and play G leaguers major minutes youre asking for trouble
If Pacers trade ben mathurin. I would highly disappointed considering how competitive he is. Most of the pacers are soft. The fact that Pacers git James Johnson after that game ball incident really says alot about their toughness. But it is what it is. Trading Ben mathurin will be the worst thing this franchise has done since drafting miles plumlee
he's GOOD, but take a closer look. He misses defensive assignments, switches, boxing out, and is slow to react. On Offense he SLOWS the pace too much, and is Constantly looking for calls to the point the entire team will be back and he's STILL ARGUING with the officials.
@@theresidentteacher2438sounds like you're talking about Pascal Siakam.. The "max player." Funny how everyone around him plays worse and how the Raptors are on the rise with him gone. Mathurin will only continue to get much better.. But Pacers will only continue a massive decline. Because they have no ideal what the hell they're doing when it comes to roster building. They have two passive bigs right now who never huslte in any way, defensively, offensively, on boards or blocks/steals.. Idc that Pascal is having a better year for him and statistically the best player on the team. When no one else is better and the team suffers around him. He doesn't do anything to warrant a team to change their entire style and schemes around him.. They fkd up by trading for him and not staying focused on Defense first.. He's not elite at anything and they're paying him a max.. If he wasn't getting paid that and they had flexibility, didn't have to guarantee him all the minutes.. could have added other player's.. then maybe it wouldn't have been as bad.. but losing all flexibility for Pascal and him only being very mid. Especially on D, hasn't helped the team overall. When they could have signed/traded for 3 other player's for the price of Pascal.. Drafted one of Dunn, or Missi which was a guarantee. Because those are the positions we needed.. then we could have added Kolek. Jaylen Wells instead of Furphy.. Or if they wanted to move up for another selection. They could have added a Terrance Shannon Jr.. Kept our 2026 1st too.. Signed Hartenstein, or OG, traded for Caruso and signed Naji Marshall.. Probably could have kept Smith too... How does no one see this fk up? Could have went after Karl Towns instead had they not rushed this trade. They drafted Oscar over GG Jackson which was baffling as fk.. Passed on our own TJD.. have never once attempted to address the SF wing position with anyone 6'6 or over.. never addressed the rebounding and true C position. Instead they continue to add crappy undersized players with 0 talent and guards with no talent. They took Newton only because his team won. Lol I don't think they even look at these player's before selecting them. Had they done so, they would have known Jaylen Wells was by far the best player in their pick position and underrated. Was no point in drafting 2 more PFs.. I don't see Furphy as a SF or Guard. He has no skills to show he's those position types. It's as if they only drafted them because they planned on losing both Smith and Obi.. still terrible selections either way.. Management is making terrible decisions and if they don't fix the where they screwed up. I said this is exactly what would happen. They will continue to lose all the young and good talen we accumulated with picks.. All for Pascal Siakam who will be gone soon enough and have left this entire team's future in complete shambles.. Went from possibly building a top team in the NBA to 🗑.. They will have no future soon.. smh
I wonder will the pacers get into a somewhat situation similar to the kings with Fox and Haliburton on future building plans to fit around that player in Mathurin and Haliburton even though their not the same position so the situation is a little different but just in a sense of fitting around a young player in the backcourt, as of right now due to player resumes Haliburton is the likely candidate of building around obviously but that could be in to question if he isn’t playing up to the standard consistently as the level of the player he suppose to be, if front office is higher on Mathurin potential that could sway his direction also BUT if that leans his direction that also means the front office wants to reset and likely move on from Siakam in a trade or 2025 summer but hypothetically if Mathurin is traded I think it should be towards another young player with high potential so that it won’t be a wasted lottery pick like another lottery pick in Shaedon Sharpe alongside a Robert Williams package or etc
It's not Rick Carlisle's fault. It's management for not making the right roster decisions in Trades, FA and Drafts.. When you don't prioritize Defense/Rebounding then Talent/Skills in that order first.. You aren't making the right decisions.. There's been many player's for year's that would have been amazing selections for us. Many of them being cheap options. Yet they make 0 attempts to get any of those player's... Instead they go after all the guy's we don't need instead. Had I had the chance to build this team myself. They'd be one of the best team's in the league right now. That said if there were any moves to make to the coaching. They need to add a defensive coach. Not fire Rick, that will solve nothing. The coaches aren't the roster and can't play defense for them. The decision they need to make now. Is whether they want to move Pascal.. Or move everyone else within the roster. Because they have a lot of guy's who prefer to play with pace and space... Doesn't really matter how well Pascal plays himself. If no one else fits in around him and plays well.. They would need to go after a defensive rim running C like a Claxton and add a guy like Finney-Smith Instead, Sharpe.. All they can do is attempt a trade to fix the direction they failed to take the first time imo.. Had they went for Hartenstein, OG, Caruso and Naji Marshall types. We wouldn't be having this conversation right now. We don't have any cap flexibility now, which is their biggest issue. When trying to find Defensive player's who can contribute in a number of ways.. They can't just add a couple Defensive guy's.. They have to move one of these "max guys." Only moving a Turner and Obi does nothing to improve this team.. You can't get enough to fix the issue's. We can't keep giving our picks away either... What's bs is we gave our 26th 1st away already. I knew we'd go downhill immediately after that trade because of fit and cap alone.. That draft is supposed to be one of the best in a long time.. If we're a really bad team in 2026. We better completely tank. If not we risk losing our 2026. Change our approach and be like some of these other team's. Since we need to develop anyways, but Pacers never do that.. We could end up with AJ Dybansta. That's who this team needs fr. So many trades we should have made.. To think had we been aggressive in going after Kat.. I said back when Karl Towns was available that he'd been an amazing addition if we could have gotten him. I have a hard time believing Minnesota wouldn't have wanted to have done the trade for Turner and 1sts had we had it instead of having gone for Pascal. So many moves were completely screwed up because they wanted to rush a trade decision mid-season last year on the wrong player.. It was either OG, or nothing for me.
I was calling for Naji early last year, I thought he would have been a similar sf like Nesmith, interchangeable in fact. You’re spot on with management having blinders on, and their lack of building a more defensive quality core that wins comes playoff time. IMO, we’re simply in a 3-4 year trajectory, this team is still way so young and years away. Keep building in 24yo Hali, 22yo Mathurin, and 21yo Walker, with 25yo Nesmith as your player that should be THE guy for players to emulate. They suck this year because Nesmith is so important every night as a top defender, on a team with no other defenders.

The offense which Rick Carlisle's developed was good last year because there opponents are playing much slower, the pacer used the philosophy "why touch something when its not broken". With that opponents was able to find a solution how to beat the "good offense" which they used previously. I personally feel that approach was not the best way to maximize one of your max player "Siakam". Siakam's game was really good in the halfcourt especially his fadeaway midrange shot. But what happened is that Siakam's offense has turned in an isolation play and spot up 3pt shooter. As they want to quickly score the points so slowing it down is the opposite of what they want. Inside game or slow pounding inside is a part of Siakam's game thats why he was able to develop a very good fadeaway midrange shot. In terms of moving turner or any assets right now is not going to be much of a help expect if they can get LaMelo Ball because his "current" play style is what the "current" pacers team offense and vision is. He is "currently" a much better option 1 than Haliburton. So if that option might be possible, moving ANYONE in the pacers lineup should be considered even Haliburton. "Currently" the pacer vision/offensive philosophy doesn't know how to maximize or utilize properly a big man. They are better off getting a really good wing in the likes of a Brandon Miller or Amen Thompson or Tari Eason. Letting turner walk for free personally is okay. The pacers coaching staff should study last seasons OKC team. They started a non traditional lineups in where there are 4 guards 1 forward depending on how you see it but there height is very small. Despite that height disparity they played good defense and played fast. OKC also knows that kind of setup will not work all the time especially in the playoffs, thats why they got Isaiah Hartenstein. Personally alot of changes are needed from this year to the next. But if the pacer's would stick with its current vision and philosophy especially the coaching staff. I feel the lineup that would work it for that would look something like the below list. Staring Five PG - LaMelo Ball SG - Bennedict Mathurin SF - Amen Thompson PF - Tari Eason C -Donovan Clingan Reserve PG - T. J. McConnell SG - Ben Sheppard SF - Johnny Furphy PF - Jarace Walker C - Isaiah Jackson PG - Quenton Jackson C - James Wiseman
Extend Rick Carlisle to the front office he’s lost the locker room. Pacers made the ECF despite the poor coaching in late game scenarios and is in no way motivated to get past his favorite team Boston 🍀 because Dirk already won him one
@@TheAnanaki If the team doesn't execute then the coach looks bad. Not saying he's an awesome coach, but He's better than what a lot of teams have. The Pacers upper management never seem to go after a winning team. I would love to see them go after just one superstar player to lead the team and I'm pretty sure Tyrese isn't the one. I can't remember the last time a player fouled out. It's like they don't want to get physical.

PG - LaMelo Ball
SG - Bennedict Mathurin
SF - Amen Thompson
PF - Tari Eason
C -Donovan Clingan
Reserve
PG - T. J. McConnell
SG - Ben Sheppard
SF - Johnny Furphy
PF - Jarace Walker
C - Isaiah Jackson
PG - Quenton Jackson
C - James Wiseman

Don't use it if you don't like it!
Extend Rick Carlisle to the front office he’s lost the locker room. Pacers made the ECF despite the poor coaching in late game scenarios and is in no way motivated to get past his favorite team Boston 🍀 because Dirk already won him one
His late game coaching decisions are some of the worst I've seen by a professional coach and I watched Pagano and Reich
