  • Hello and welcome to the 15th and the last episode of the 4th season of Adventure Now!
In this episode we visit Kip Marina to hide from a gale and then proceed south to our favourite - Largs Yacht Haven for the winter.
As this is the last episode of the season, please join us for a trip down memory lane.
In episode 1 we enjoy a winter cruise around the River Crouch in Essex. We receive a bottle of Jura's finest from Stewart on Emma on SV Evolene, say our goodbyes and head north accompanied by love and feathery little friends. We raise a glass to celebrate crossing into Scottish waters and revisit one of our favourites - Peterhead.
In Episode 2 we reach the Orkney Islands, where we are faced with the remnants of war, evidence of mortality, and are tempted with the ever-present Scottish nectar.
In Episode 3 Asha tries to attract the attention of extraterrestrials in the Ring of Brodgar, and we head to Scrabster, where enjoy the dramatic cliffs and a full Scottish breakfast before beating for 200 miles to the Faroe Islands!
In the 4th episode we return to our beloved Faroe Islands, enjoy local festivities, the amazing Cathedral Caves and the tranquility of Hestur.
In the 5th episode we set sail bound for Iceland.
In the 6th episode we round the Langanes, sail to Husavik and return to the crack and we visit the hot muddy pools of Namaskard.
In the 7th episode we have a champagne sailing day on the way to Flatey, where we enjoy the surreal beauty of this remote island.
We pick up an Italian bike designer and adventurer and sail him into the Arctic Circle.
In the 8th Episode we reach Isafjordur and catch up with Mike on Pangey, defer visiting Greenland for another season and head south to admire the Western Fjords.
In the 9th episode we meet basking sharks and motor to Akranes where we visit the amazing Iclandic specialities of the Golden Circle route with our friend Danny.
In the 10th episode we visit the only Icelandic whisky distillery and explore the arty capital city of Reykjavik. We then sail around the corner to Grindavik, a port which saw many ships wrecked on its shores due to massive southerly gales. Then we sail on to our last port of call in Iceland - Vestmannaeyjar.
In the next episode, number 11, we enjoy the magic vistas of this incredible archipelago, and the warmth from Eldfell volcano, and finally leave Iceland behind, heading for the west coast of Scotland.
In Episode 12, after a 500 nautical mile passage, we reach Stornoway. We explore the magical Island of Lewis and Harris and the town of Stornoway with our never dying love and excitement for this place and attempt another cosmic dial up at the Standing Stones of Callanish standing! Where are you, extraterrestrials?
After we sail to Mallaig, catch up with Daniel and Kathrin on Polaris.
In episode 13 we welcome our friend Giles aboard Altor for an amazing 12 day adventure through the Scottish fairy-tale lands, infecting our unsuspecting fellow sailor with the incurable Scottish sailing bug.
In Episode 14 we reach the Crinan Canal and fast forward our journey to the other side where we blow the cobwebs off with a feisty sail down Loch Fyne. We are very happy to see Mike and Helen in Portavadie and then we sail through the Kyles of Bute to the town of Dunoon on the Firth of Clyde. That brings us to the end of the recap so we then rejoin episode 15 and reach our winter berth in Largs.
We are very grateful to each and everyone for watching our adventures aboard sailing vessel Altor of Down, a Moody 44, our floating home, pride and joy.
Filmed in 2023 using a Panasonic Lumix FZ1000, a Samsung Galaxy S10, DJI Mavic Pro, DJI Mini, DJI Phantom 4, DJI Pocket, a Rhode microphone, and edited with iMovie.

Thanks so much, Emma & Stewart! Great to hear you are afloat again! We can see the white sails on the sunny Firth of Clyde so I suppose it's not long before you'll hoist the sails on SV Evolene again. Altor is coming out in March for maintenance, and we are making some exciting plans for the 5th season. Here is to another year of awesome adventures - Slàinte my fellow sailors! 🥃

Just love your poetic narrative, and looking back over your last years adventure. I am annoyed at You Tube though, as a subscriber I never see when you have made a new release. Fortunately I check regularly as always find watching your channel enjoyable. Can’t wait for your start to the new season.

What’s on for this year? We are going north , Faroes I hope, and south, around Ireland for a wee Guinness cruise, from our Kerrera base. Good luck with whatever you are doing.

    Hi Asha und Mark!
I stumbled across your videos when searching the internet for information on sailing in Scotland and kept watching ever since. Your videos became very inspiring for us. We sailed over to Scotland from the Netherlands last summer and have called on many ports, like Mallaig, Stornoway, Scrabster, Stromness e.g. unfortunately always at a different time as you guys. It would have been our pleasure meeting you two, as we share your sentiments about sailing in many ways. We will kept a sharp lockout for Altor!!

Hello 🙃 Thank you so much for watching and following our adventures! I hope you have found some useful information for your Scottish sailing. Sounds like you have had a great adventure so far. We absolutely love the west coast - and have fond memories from all the ports you have mentioned! Are you back in the Netherlands, and will you be sailing back to Scotland? Hopefully our paths will cross at some stage and we will share our sailing stories and a wee dram or two 🥃🥃

Thank you so much for your answer. In your videos sailing in Scotland seems so relaxed and easy and they convinced us that we could do this trip. This year we will sail to Brittany and stay there for the summer, but returning to Scotland again is definitely on our agenda. Regards from Barbara and Alex

A very quick review of the absolutely stunning west coast of Scotland- it’s a secret - don’t promote it too much!!!!! We have sailed in these waters for many years and there is always a safe anchorage in whatever the Scottish weather can throw at you - work the tides and the weather and all will be fine - go against and you will whine 😢 - we left our experience of these waters to sail across the pond to the Caribbean and what we learned in Scottish waters sailing has definitely helped us big style - Altor of Down - are you crossing the Pond????

    • @AdventureNow
      @AdventureNow  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

Haha! Nice poem there 👍 We agree, Scotland is a fantastic sailing ground and we too love the fact that you can hide from nasty stuff by tucking in to one of many beautiful safe anchorages. Thank you for watching and for getting in touch. We will cross the pond at some point I’m sure! Happy sailing ⛵️😃

@@AdventureNow That's more how I like it. Love largs, beautiful place with the promenade and everything. One of the first locations I ever sailed in scotland, before I was more on the southcoast/south east and across the channel.
The clyde was just a summer paradise with all the lochs and the protection from harsh weather, and there always was an anchorage for any wind or swell and never far apart. True mecca of (champagne) sailing.
