  • Hello and welcome to the 2nd episode of the 5th season of Adventure Now!
In this episode we pick the anchor up from the muddy bottom of Horseshoe Bay and head for the Sound of Mull. However, due to not having any favorable wind to blow us north we change our minds, hearts and direction and aim for Fort William and the Caledonian Canal.
That evening we drop the anchor near the entrance of the canal and go exploring two shipwrecks on the nearby shore. On the hull of one of the wrecked boats we find the artwork of a kindred spirit searching for the meaning of life!
The following day we commence our 7 day transit and enjoy the first day of the passage alongside SY Gandalf 6 as we climb together up Neptune's Staircase bathed in sunshine, despite the high odds of rain in this part of the UK.
We are very grateful to each and everyone for watching our adventures aboard sailing vessel Altor of Down, a Moody 44, our floating home, pride and joy.
Filmed in 2024 using a Panasonic Lumix FZ1000, a Samsung Galaxy S10, a Rhode microphone and edited with iMovie.

Lovely film, safe trip. that old trawler is in a million photos and portraits and selfies and lives on in thousands of visitors memories. It sone of my screen savers! Good call on the canal.. Great pubs along the way. Fancy retiring early and taking a job on the canal and live on the boat in summer and a cottage in winter!

Thank you Richie. That trawler certainly draws a crowd. So she's not at the end then. She's on her photographic swan song and doesn't appear to be going anywhere soon! All the best to you. Asha & Mark

Hello Sandy. Thank you. We met a retired English teacher when we were in Corpach. He was quite the character, in full Scottish attire! Full of joy, stories of mountain climbs and poetry recital. He was proud of his Scottish / Dutch heritage and a real pleasure to meet. Maybe he taught you? His surname was Leinie, or something. Very nice guy.
      All the best to you.

Having had two very near death experiences I can honestly say I only remember the peace and quiet with all pain removed temporarily until I came to. Loved the Caledonian canal. Maggie and I navigated that with two dogs in our Leisure 17 one of the best trips we had although we did get knocked down in Lock Ness. Two dogs ended up on the inside roof of the cabin fortunately only temporarily. Enjoy.

Great relaxing film as ever! If you are heading across the North Sea from Inverness then what about the Baltic instead of the West coast of Norway? We did Denmark from Inverness some years ago and loved the east of Denmark including Copenhagen and then the Baltic!

Hello and thank you. Wed love to go in the Baltic and I think it would be good to sail to Asha's homeland at some point so it's definitely on the radar. Hope you are well. Asha & Mark
