The Extra Mile: Episode 4 with Minura Manchanayake

“Realising the dream of entering university with perseverance and consistency”
Minura Manchanayake is a prominent Old Josephian who enjoyed immense academic success while being involved in various extracurricular activities. He obtained 3 A’s at the G.C.E. Advanced Level Examination, achieving the best results in the College in the Biological Science Stream; he subsequently gained entrance to the prestigious Faculty of Medicine of the University of Colombo in the hopes of becoming a Doctor. He served as the Deputy Head Prefect of College in 2016/17 and was passionately involved in Debating and Drama, being the President of the English Debating Union and English Literary Union. He is currently completing his 4th year in the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Colombo.
With a competitive and challenging education system present in Sri Lanka, Minura provides instrumental advice on securing a place in university by engaging in your academics with perseverance and consistency. In this interview, many misconceptions of university life are intelligently negated, as Minura elaborates on his wonderful experience at the University of Colombo; students are equipped with valuable knowledge that will aid them at the time of selecting their own higher education pathway.

“The Extra Mile” is a motivational programme in the form of a series of interviews featuring prominent and exemplary Old Josephians. It is organised by the Prefects’ Body of St. Joseph’s College to keep the Josephian Spirit active amongst students during the COVID-19 pandemic while also inspiring students to go the extra mile in their school journey. This programme endeavours to equip students with an arsenal of traits instrumental in interacting with modern-day society.
