I haven't listened to this song in 13 years. I broke in tears like an idiot. I fucking love you dad, wish I could go back to the golden days of my youth when everything was simple.
This song always make me well up, i dont like my dad and he was never there, though i know he had nothing to offer i still feel rejected and want to know why he didn't want me and my sister
I hear this song and immediately the image of Chuck's father being captured pops into my head 🥺 and Sarah and Casey have to drag him out of there 😢 while Chuck is screaming 😭
My maths teacher always had music playing, he used to play Glasvegas a lot. He's the one that introduced me to them. Funny how I always remember the music but can't remember the maths😂
I stopped listening to this song because I knew the feelings wouldn't be the same as when you were still here with me. Miss you forever, dad. My only true friend.
He speaks to all of us who have lost their fathers. Mine was lost at age 11. My mother became a drunk and addict and faded away soon after. Even though I can’t remember his face or the sound of his voice, I feel him in my heart and hope to see him again as a man, so I can have a conversation with him.
@@blxxdcxrmxny You may be forgetting the "forget your da" bit. Like, not to knock anyone's feelings or pain but... yeah different thing. Cool to connect to the song despite it though.
Thank you for setting me straight. Your compassion to an individuals own subjective view of a song and how it makes them feel is an amazing thing….mate.
This song was on an indie CD that was in the car my friend and I bought when cruising through New Zealand. Brings me back to all the gravel roads we took to get to all the remote places, mountains and coves. Man what a trip
Saw them live at House of Blues New Orleans... front row, he comes to where we are during Flowers and Football Tops and gave me a handshake and a hug and my wife a kiss on the cheek... very cool memory... Great band...
Love this song, I was very fortunate to be one of the martial artists in the video many years ago. It was such a fun day and I look back on that time and this song so fondly.
I've heard this song from Chuck 8 years ago and im kinda like it but avoids to listens to it coz it makes me sad, i love my Dad we have ups and downs but he never gives up on us, even we are poor, he always find ways to keep us to be in the right place,, hes now old and he was sick for a long time and he keeps on fighting coz he love us and still wants to be with us,, this morning Dec 23, 2020 he died and it makes me cry many times,, but im not so sad knowing hes resting now, no more pain, no more sufferings, now God puts him in the right place,, i know from those sufferings he is now smiling,,, thank you for being a good father to us,, we promise that we will look for one another and love each other bcoz thats how you want us to be and thats how you raised us, we love you Dad, take care
Such a powerful song. It can resonate on so many levels. Being a son who still sometimes treats a dad like a hero, even though he doesn't deserve it. Being a dad and wanting to be a much better dad to his children than what he ever got from his dad. Being a dad and hoping that his children will be better parents than himself is. Glasvegas, thank you for this gem.
Well since I listened this song for the first time I use to play it at my daddy's birthday and it's today. He died 31 years ago and this song helps me to keep memories of him still alive
Beautiful, painful, and poignant for all of us who grew up watching the people we loved more than anything in the world walk away from us. Absolutely fantastic song summing up that heart ache.
First heard this song in Chuck and it really hits hard with me. My Dad is a malignant Narcissist. Didn't even want to visit me or pay child support growing up even though he was a wealthy lawyer. Said he wanted to try to reconcile a couple years ago when I'm already in my early 30s and have a wife and four children of my own. I gave him a chance and he Couldn't do it! LOL He was a jerk 34 years ago when I was born and he's still a jerk today. One of the last things I said to him was that I'm going to continue to try my best to be the opposite of him which is what I've done my whole life. Hang in there everyone!
i love ma da he made mistakes he was young this song helped me thru am thankful n done me n ma da are BOTH adults now we will be ok me n ma da he was an arse back then. THANK U GLASVAGAS FOR GETTIN ME THRU TOUGHEST TIMES ♡♡♡♡
Saw them live for the first time, 13years ago on a friday evening with my dad. Right on the day I left my dad's home and started living alone. seems like yesterday...
One of my favourite by far!! Tune and even better when you doing a bender and you know when that song comes on the benders due to end haha class love how it's sang in pure Scottish moan the Scotts💯

[Verse 1] How you are my hero How you're never here though Remember times when you put me on your shoulders How I wish it was forever you would hold us Right now I'm too young to know How in the future it will affect me when you go You could have had it all You, me, and mum y`know Anything was possible [Pre-Chorus] I won't be the lonely one Sitting on my own and sad A fifty year old Reminiscing what i had I won't be the lonely one Sitting on my own and sad [Chorus] Forget your dad, he's gone Forget your dad, he's gone He's gone, he's gone... [Verse 2] All I wanted was a kick-a-bout in the park For you to race me home when it was nearly getting dark How I could've been yours, and you'd be mine It could've been me and you until the end of time Do what you want, when you want Be as fucking insincere as you can What kind of way is that to treat your wife To see your son on Saturdays What way is that to live your life? [Pre-Chorus] [Chorus]

I haven't listened to this song in 13 years. I broke in tears like an idiot. I fucking love you dad, wish I could go back to the golden days of my youth when everything was simple.

This song always make me well up, i dont like my dad and he was never there, though i know he had nothing to offer i still feel rejected and want to know why he didn't want me and my sister
hard to realise but you are your dad...just takes some time to realise
Crying is fine mate
Oh God I miss Chuck so much.
My Dad was always there for us but cancer took him away from us. You will always be my hero dad ❤💚💛
Chuck put some of the best music to represent what he felt in his history, was the best, and I I'm really grateful to listening that! Thanks!!!
My dad walked out on us when I was 3....so much anger bubbling inside me. I am now in my 50s, love this track
Very Sorry man ❤️..i've missed when i was 15
I'm 32. The anger has turned into despair. I have people around that stears the ship though, without them I'd be at the end of a noose.
32..... you should be a dad yourself now. Get on with it bro...
@@GoingNorthObv Hope your having a good day!
Love u bro
Dear Chuck, thanks for expanding my music library. However, I will always associate this song with Chuck's father being taken away.
Omg that scene was incredibly shocking though:(
Comes back every time I watch Chuck :) Love it!
I hear this song and immediately the image of Chuck's father being captured pops into my head 🥺 and Sarah and Casey have to drag him out of there 😢 while Chuck is screaming 😭
To every one who had never had or lost a father, stay strong we owe it to ourselves ❤💪🏽
My maths teacher always had music playing, he used to play Glasvegas a lot. He's the one that introduced me to them.
Funny how I always remember the music but can't remember the maths😂
total banger after all these years. (2023)
I stopped listening to this song because I knew the feelings wouldn't be the same as when you were still here with me.
Miss you forever, dad. My only true friend.
The little amount of comments is a bit concerning given how great this song is.
Slept on
This tune is pure goosebumps it reminds me of aberfeldy i ran there when my dad and brother died all the way from london
its just its actually heart breaking mate. No one listens to this in a good mood. x
The first lyrics "oh oh how youre my hero, oh oh how your never here though" are amazing.

That's no the point the songs trying to get across mate..
@@scottlawrence7036 read his first sentence. Everyone deals with things differently. His father was gone and thats it...
It's ABSOLUTELY the same point

Fucking love this!! It’s crazy how a certain song can bring back a memory of that exact moment in time.

Still here in 2025 ( Chuck 😢)
[Verse 1]
How you are my hero
How you're never here though
Remember times when you put me on your shoulders
How I wish it was forever you would hold us
Right now I'm too young to know
How in the future it will affect me when you go
You could have had it all
You, me, and mum y`know
Anything was possible
[Pre-Chorus]
I won't be the lonely one
Sitting on my own and sad
A fifty year old
Reminiscing what i had
I won't be the lonely one
Sitting on my own and sad
[Chorus]
Forget your dad, he's gone
Forget your dad, he's gone
He's gone, he's gone...
[Verse 2]
All I wanted was a kick-a-bout in the park
For you to race me home when it was nearly getting dark
How I could've been yours, and you'd be mine
It could've been me and you until the end of time
Do what you want, when you want
Be as fucking insincere as you can
What kind of way is that to treat your wife
To see your son on Saturdays
What way is that to live your life?
[Pre-Chorus]
[Chorus]
"Forget your da" if you want to do it in true Glaswegian fashion
Christ I forgot about this, I'm 35 now, it still hits hard
the song reminds me if ma dad so sad rip dad GBNF miss u loads xxxx
