I've lost count the number of times I've driven around and past this site over the years and I've never seen a train moving within the new terminal. Really good to see stuff operating in there.
It was a stroke of luck for me really, I haven’t been there since it’s all been built, I was only there to see a 747 land at EMA and was surprised how close the gateway is to the airport viewing area.... and even more lucky to catch the train movements as well.
Really interested to see this in action, I delivered aggregates for this a couple of years back for a few months. Only a bit of track was down at the time. I've since moved back down south so it's nice to see it working!
Isn’t there something daft about the track layout here that a train for Felixstowe has to go to Water Orton to reverse when the line via Stamford to Peterborough is only a few miles the other way?
What is the power station in the background? I hope they do not destroy the cooling towers as England has very few left now. They need to be preserved.
Hi mate. Been looking for these new lines and terminal on Google maps .. and they aren't even on there! Trying to figure out how to get there. Have you got any directions to that bridge your on at the junction for 2nd part of video? Like a road name or something? Chees in advance 😊

I was lucky, Id just got there as the first train was approaching.

This was my reason for being there really, was waiting at the end of 27 for the 747 and didn’t realise the gateway was that close 👍
0:30 That S bend seems so unnecessary and only adds to the distance that trains have to travel.
The bend is actually to make a sharper angle so the railway can cross over the road, which is difficult to see from this vantage point.

The bridge at the junction is on Ryecroft road in Hemington. The terminal is next to the airport.
