I really appreciate how you're doing most of the storytelling yourself, using the oracles sparingly and only when needed. Other TH-cam series post three hour videos for the same content because they get bogged down on rolls. I assume there is a fair bit of work involved, but the final product is worth it. Keep up the good work.
Thanks so much for watching! Glad you’re enjoying the style. I’ve tried to make a conscious effort to keep the story moving and the rules very much in the background. Thanks for letting me know that you’re enjoying my approach.
Starforged S1-3 and the OG Ironsworn run are going up once a week and I’ll add mine & Steve’s pod too eventually. All my APs from Sundered Isles onwards will be fully on camera so will be TH-cam only unless people complain about it in sufficient volumes. And even then it’ll take me 3 years to do it…
@@thebadspot I'm sucked in! I'm actually happy I've got so much content already published ahead of me. See you some time later when I'll be waiting for each new episode
Hello and thanks a lot for all your work. Among the others compliments from my fellow viewers, i would like to add that for a non native english speaker (french), your good elocution and slow rate speaking make you very easy to understand, and this is much appreciated, that's why you are the one I follow the most, thanks my good man !
Thank you so much for watching along and for letting me know that I'm coming through loud and clear. I am grateful to have lost the regional accent I had when I was younger, because no-one would understand me at all! Really appreciate having you on board!
Thanks to your playthroughs I gave the solo Star Trek game another shot and played through a mission much like your sessions here. Great examples for storytelling here!
I was thinking something like "radmaw" for the creature names, them being radioactive bastards with oversized mouths... catchy and informative. Although your shortlist names were all far more amusing XD
I'm finding these really late but, have been having a blast watching them and gaining a bunch of inspiration while I wait for my copy of the rulebook to be delivered. I was curious, what is your intro song? Is there an extended version, and does it fall under a genre you can classify?
I’m so glad you’re finding something to enjoy in my show, thanks for watching! The music is a song I made on GarageBand chopping up a few loops. Glad you like it!
@@thebadspot Man. That's awesome. What were some of your inspirations while making it? I listened all the way up to episode 11 today while I was out making deliveries on the job. It's really given me a lot of ideas for my own game. Thanks again for all the effort you put into this.
@creatureinthedeep that’s so cool! In terms of the music, I just played around with a bunch of loops. I wanted something old spliced with something new so the Afghan Rabab over hip hop percussion and a big beat seemed to work. You’ve got a lot of episodes ahead of you!
15:54 "When you burn your momentum you replace your roll with your current momentum score" Is this how it is worded in Starforged (beside that I assume this would mean your action score, not the action roll)? In Ironsworn, momentum is used to "cancel" challenge dice, but the rules never clarify how this was meant to interact with the dice matching mechanic, but what you said would clarify that.
Hello and thanks for watching. Yes, momentum is different in Starforged. When you burn it, it replaces your action score and you compare that against the challenge dice instead. It’s much cleaner and I think much better.
Another awesome episode and we're only 4 in (6 if you count the world building). I do have 2 questions though: 1) can you elaborate somehow how you build these initial fiction stories, not 100% sure what you mean by your explanation in the video description and 2) what is the dice rolling application you share on screen?
Thanks for watching! Glad you’re enjoying it. For the Tales from the Drift, writers roll on some oracles for prompts, then write a 200 word story based on those prompts. The dice rolling app is an iOS app called Dice 3D by Unity. I record the rolls on my phone then cut them into the videos.
Hi, thank you for the entertaining starforged play! This gives me inspiration for my own solo gaming. May I ask you about the infested table? Did you use the oracle infested from starforged or from delve? Thanks!
Thanks for watching! Glad you’re enjoying the show. I’m certainly enjoying making it. The infested theme oracle is from the preview edition of Starforged. From memory it is not too dissimilar to the one from Delve.
Hi Rich, thanks for watching. Glad you are enjoying the show and the music. All the pieces featured I made myself using loops from GarageBand on my iPad. I chopped the drums up a little and found some cool sounding hooks and there you have it!
@@thebadspotI know this is super late but I would love to be able to download the song. It is fantastic, and I would totally put it on my running/excercise song playlist.
@CharlotteofCherryHill Thanks! I have a longer version of the theme tune that I’d be more than happy to share. Maybe I should just upload it as a video?
@@thebadspot Ah, hello, and thanks for the reply, much appreciated. A video uploaded of the song would be awesome, thank you so much. I just found your channel recently, after starting to play ironsworn and starforged. Your roleplay videos are really helping me get the flow and mechanics of the games figured out. I'm currently creating a character named Risby, in your honor.
I understand why you want to save your momentum for something really important, but once you capped it, every good thing that happens is losing much of its benefit. It's a resource like any other, and it seems like "use it or lose it" might have saved you at least once and recovered quickly enough.
Ah, such optimism. You have 20 more episodes of my poor decisions ahead of you. Please note that all my decisions are based on what would make a more interesting story, rather than what is optimum from a game perspective. So many of this season’s most memorable moments have come from me really putting Archer through it.
@thebadspot Yeah. I really wanted to love it. My problem with everything I've tried is that the world creation is fun but then the game doesn't hold up. Like a hill I just can't get over.

Aww, thanks! If you ask me you're The Good Spot! ^_^
@xeltanni8999 Yeah, but I moved onto other games. I do intend to give it another go sometime.
Every episode is better than the previous one. Happy vacations!
Thanks so much! Hopefully tomorrow’s new episode will meet your expectations…
"Fun" in the sense of Dwarf Fortress, i.e. "Losing is Fun!"
Or, as I like to say, "Fun, with a capitol F U"
Murdersupials gets my vote!
That was my personal favourite too. Alas, it seems that only you & I fully embraced the Murdersupial.
Grrrrrrrrrrr This is so good!!!! I'm hooked
Thanks for watching!
Death Hoppers is my favorite name.
A strong contender

Be great if they were badger-like, then they could be "radgers"
I am 100% on board with radgers
I really enjoy these, can't wait for the next one!
Thanks for watching! New episodes every Thursday.
Like a pride of lions with the male being larger.
Exactly!
Why am I picturing the alpha kangerilladile clinging to the outside of the ship hull? Why?
My first few dice rolls of next session better be good, or we'll be finding out...
Another great episode, and I can't wait to see where the rolls take this story next time. That databank has all kinds of potential to shake things up.
Thanks! Who knows what is on that thing, but I can't wait to find out. Hopefully not just someone's holiday photos...

Definitely Muscle Bastards!
I think it’s about as apt a name as I could think of.
Did we ever decide on a name for the monsters from last session? I'm fond of Murdersupials myself.
If you like Murdersupials, then Murdersupials it is!
'Mild peril'? That's putting things a touch mildly, don't you think? Also, never open the McGuffin. That never ends well.
Oh wait, he just did. Oops.
Might upgrade from mild to moderate peril next week...
lol, Dangeroos, Kangerilladiles, Murdersupials
It was fun coming up with names for these critters!
Should you have made progress after the fight with the Murderoos?
Very possibly, I often forget…
Missing milestones is the quintessential ironsworn experience.
