They remind me very much of the only pair of John Lob's that I have owned! Unfortunately they were taken from me when my case was stolen on a trip to one of the African nations! I have always wondered how these types of boots can be worn without looking absurd or being too feminine. I live in a cold climate, and taller boots would be perfect for the winter months.

I am a Seattle native and can enlighten you, a little. Snoqualmie is a mountainous area in the USA, in Washington State. Snoqualmie Pass is the place where most people cross the Cascade Mountains to get to and from the Greater Seattle Area. It is also one of the places we go to experience nature. Very majestic, inspiring landscapes: big pines and rocky slopes. Everything feels wild and regal and on a slightly grander scale.

After watching this video about your shoe collection I am contemplating whether it is better to eat food or to wear beautiful shoes. And beautiful shoes keeps winning! Shoes are a direct reflection of one's mental state -- playful, formal, daring, unabashedly conservative, avant garde, etc. -- and thus are a window to the sole (pardon the pun)! Hugo, I cannot imagine what it must be like to be your feet!! Ha!! Je vous souhaite un plein succès dans vos entreprises futures!

Thank you for the insight & for once again allowing us to step into your world!
The stitching on the Stephane Jimenez shoes is absolutely beautiful! the contrasting white on the quarter is to die for!
I confess, I too would love a nice loafer, but on me, they always look like a pair of slippers. The only way I could possibly get away with a pair is to maybe wear them with a smoking jacket whilst carrying a nice glass of wine. Perhaps something to try!
Finally, a thought for your next pair perhaps: I couldn't help thinking that when you see the Stephane Jimenez first appear at 20:21 the contrast between white and black, that perhaps there would be an option to expand the collection with a contrasting pair where for example the toe extending to the quarter is done with a gold to rich brown patina similar to your Norman Vilalta Deacon boot, and then a contrast on the quarter in a slightly darker shade. It could also be done with the burgundy, but it would need to be a subtle contrast to avoid them looking like spectators.
Apologies for the lengthy comment, when I feel inspired I think aloud and type too much haha.

Hugo - ask your shoe makers to make a pair that closes at the back so that you just slip your foot into them and fasten with a buckle, or maybe Velcro at the back of the shoe.

Would like some opinion on blue oxfords. I've been eyeing a pair but not sure if it's a good colour to get. Any input or thoughts on them would be amazing. Cheers

Like a navy blue? I have a pair of navy leather loafers and find them to be quite versatile.

I ain’t got the patience to wait a year on a pair of shoes. Few weeks to 1-2 months maximum.

From what I can see, the shoes so far have all been leather / flat soles. Do you have other shoes you wear in winter for traction?

Hey Mikey, you missed the snoqualmie boots by J. Fitzpatrick (the hiking boots with vibram soles). Cheers, Hugo

Are Santoni a good maker? I bought a pair of brogue Chelsea boots for cheap in an sale in Livigno Italy without knowing anything about them apart from that I liked the look of them. As I loved my Chelsea boots so much, I’ve since bought a pair of lace up brogue boots also by santoni. While searching for them I noticed many different styles of dress shoe I’d like to own 1 day

      @SARTORIALTALKS  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Yes Ryan, Santoni is a good shoemaker of course. It crafts so many different lines and qualities that it can be difficult to find your way in the collections (from decent to excellent). But it's a good company for sure. Hugo

Very interesting as always, Hugo! I didn't realize you didn't have loafers until the end, but I guess I also assumed they are not usually the kind of shoes people pay higher prices for, and were thus excluded from the conversation!
I must say though, loafers are my favourite kind of of shoes, and I do dream of getting bespoke loafers, hopefully a couple that will last me a life time. I have wider feet which make a lot of my shoes crumple in weird places, and I hope getting a bespoke will fix this issue. For more formal looks, because of my wide feet, oxfords look rather awkward on me. I did enjoy derbies a lot more, though I recently got into monk shoes and am eyeing on some dark brown singles, for day to day office wear. Anyway thanks for the video as always, and I will eagerly be waiting for your next interesting, thought provoking video.
    Best, Han.
