I have the 12,6' 8/9# And the 13,7' 9/10# And 14,8' 10/11# They are 40tone Toray Nano carbon short stroke made for scandi casting! But they do as good job whit skagit to. The price is amazing!!! And I love the crisp action as I'm pro caster. For any one who think of buy those blanks. I say do it you will not regret that. I have not try the 11,6' yet but I guessing a 7/8# be perfect steelhead rod or here for our sea runs brown. Tanks Tim awesome as always! The swed 🇸🇪
I bought a 12.6 ft. 6 wt. from Maxcatch a few years ago just for the hell of it because it was under $100. The rod actually was very good and now i let people i teach you it. It's been through alot but still performs perfectly. Thanks Tim great video!
Thanks Tim I have two Aventik 11' 6" (actually 11' 3" measured) custom build blanks in 4-5wt and 5-6wt, I fish a lot with them and really love it! IMHO highly recommended for about € 50,00 each.
Thanks Tim Just received my new Aventik Switch 7/8. Wow! What a great rod. The quality and the price is amazing. Paid $118.00. Your review is 100% spot on. Thanks for the line recommendation as well. Hope to see you on the river. Best Dan
That rod is my secret weapon with Rio Game Changer 350g F/I/S3/S5! 10 feet T8. Cover deep runs with big flies. Try their Salmon Saltwater 7-9 reel! Run RIO Short 300g with Intouch Replacement Tips 10 feet 4ips & 7ips plus floating tip for big salmon flies!
Hey tim I just got a bunch of those maxcatch skagit heads. I wanna try chopping down the 20’ 300grain to something like an opst commando for my 5wt. Where should i cut from or should i cut from the front and back of the head? Im contemplating cutting several feet from the belly and welding it back together….. thanks man!
@DanskeMansk What did you end up going with? I am trying to figure our what rod to buy based on what i have for my other 8 wt switch rods. Do these rods typically run light? I am thinking the 8/9 right now.
I'm in the process of purchasing this rod to start out....🙂👍...thanks a lot Tim...👍

Thanks for the video Tim. I always enjoy them.
Thanks for watching! Again!
Which classic reel are you using? Wild Water 11’ 5wt. 275 commando w/ 10’ floating tip and 12’ mono leader for stone flies. Sweet!
I bought a 12.6 ft.

Great to hear! Thanks for the recommendation
Thanks Tim! I don't fish heavy fly very often but I want to put them on to practice your tips now🙂
Great to hear! Thanks brother!
Thanks Tim! Any idea of the Skagit weight recommendations of these rods? Great review as always.
i use 250 to 300 on the 4/5 super short heads like commando or old school skagit trout max
Hi Tim
As a new Spey angler, I enjoy your videos. What weight Rio Scandi Short version would you recommend for the 7/8 Aventic switch rod? Thanks
425 ish? Just a guess but somewhere in that grain weight.
Thanks Tim

Try chopping from the front end, that might give the desired effect! Works good!
@@LineSpeedJediTimRawlins Love it! You’re the second person to tell me from the front, thanks Tim!
Hi. Any suggestions on line length and weight for skagit casting with this rod?
I 275 grain commando type head should do the trick or SA Spey lite Skagit
I just bought this rod in 7/8 and thinking. Do you think a 400skagit with 70gr tip will work good or will it overload?
Might be a tad heavy 👍🏻

Do u ever get fish in that spot u do all your casting vids?
not in this place, although I'm not sure why, there are a few fish around!
You're scaring all the fish to hell and gone with that casting Christ.
Searched for the rod, no luck, can you please post a link.

I need a cheap rod because the fish really don’t care .
Yup! 👍🏻
