Jason Harvey yes. He was intelligent in that he chose to engineer his car to put the power to the ground where it matters (in the back) which makes up for his hp deficit compared to the others. That’s and intelligent decision rather than the brute hp approach by the others when they can’t put the power down!
That is one way to look at it and if this was open to "modified Civics" with no stipulations then sure, AWD is technical fair. Everything I drive is AWD because I also personally believe that breaking traction is a performance problem.
That being said, the Civic is a FWD platform and in the spirit of the platform switching to RWD or AWD is kind of lame. There are PLENTY of AWD platforms to mod if that is what you want. If they were all AWD Civics on the other hand, that would also have been cool.
They did have the 88-91 Civic EK wagon. Dont know if it was available all the years of the gen tho. but they also had an AWD OR 4WD wagon didnt they? So technically he didn't completely change it up because they did have a AWD Civic wagon.

I don't get why some people are complaining. These cars are properly built. A true automotive enthusiast doesn't complain about a good build, it doesn't matter what it is. The ones crying the most are just doing so because every single one of these Civics would probably walk them with ease.
The show does need criticism and work, sure, if done politely and if you actually know how to form a sentence. The cars on the other hand here, are really nice, whether you like Honda's or not.

I`m not really the complaining type, but feedback is necessary on this one. This is a car show, and the people watching are enthusiasts. Don`t skip the details, and for goodness sake, use the correct terms. (sleeper my arse!) The editing throughout is just a mess, especially in the race. No one seemed able to switch gears, the revs never matched the image, there were too many inputs deafening the contextual scene. All in all it was almost painfull to watch and this decidedly was the last episode i am gonna watch, if the series return.

Danni Houmøller You may be right on editing & etc, but acting that negatively about it... like they just committed a crime is a little over the top IMO. Plus you mentioned nothing that was good. I'd say, the idea is awesome. No one else does this. They gave away a car, that's cool as hell. As far as missing gears, sounds like you'd prefer 10 re runs to make the race edited & clipped together just to hide the reality of racing & missing gears. If they can improve some of the editing things you pointed out this would be super cool for the JDM fans and fans of "real world" racing, where if you miss a shift, you lose the race. No reset buttons here son! 🤘🏻🍻
The main reason civics suck is they don't have turbos or awd. The other reason they suck is the gearboxs break as in the video. The engines are too small some spin the wrong way and they all face the wrong way. I guess rotating a K24, putting a turbo on it, dogbox and awd conversion is still easier than putting wishbone suspension and aerospace tolerances on an Sti.

There was what? At least 2 cameras per car PLUS a helicopter and we couldn't get a complete START to FINISH race after the chopped up, remix and editing?
Drivers and cars did great. Please reconsider how you edit and present the footage. You should also upload individual IN-CAR footage in separate videos so we see just how the drivers fared again, from start to finish (you'd also get more hits and discussion). The camera angles from the in-cars would have been wide enough for us to see when and who was making the passes or falling back.
Every drag race video should be presented in this format after the editing department produced something for the segment of your audience that can't stand raw and informative footage without a turbulent disruptive soundtrack to hype things up.

Kaine Gunn helicopter clearly seen at 8:23 and throughout parts of the race. But even if it was only used for "dramatic effect" and a drone has the actual footage, it would have been nice to see the whole race uncut from up high.

Bruh I enjoyed watching this video and seeing truly modified cars battle it out on one epic race. To be honest this brought me more satisfaction than seeing super cars race down the strip, because each car has built differently and brought a touch of uniqueness to the table.
