I absolutely love Donny Hathaway, he was and will always be a beautiful singer, songwriter and composer! Not to mention, a brilliant yet, troubled soul of a person in general. You are greatly loved and missed dearly, Mr. Donny Hathaway. :( 💖💖

Donny didn’t have to become the next Marvin Gaye. Marvin Gaye was Marvin Gaye and Donny Hathaway was the BRILLIANT “Donny Hathaway”. No matter what the media reports, Donny Hathaway reached and surpassed some other notable vocalists out there that had very high recognition. Donny Hathaway did GREAT with his musical endeavors. I wish very very much that he would have lived to do even more GREAT things with his phenomenal talents. But when all is said and done, Donny Hathaway didn’t have to aim to be the next anyone other than Donny Hathaway himself. Donny’s music was and still is just as GREAT as Marvin Gaye and some others. The man was an absolutely PHENOMENAL Moorish American in my book…the media can come up with BS statements at times talking garbage that ain’t necessarily the TRUE gospel. Donny Hathaway’s music is CLASSIC still today. Donny Hathaway didn’t have to measure up to anyone when it came to his musical abilities and deliverance. Long lives his music. The brother was “BADASS”… I love and miss your musical presence in real time here on this planet my brother Donny….Donny was a very BRIGHT STAR as far as I could tell…. 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥💯😎👍🏾❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️🫡🫡🫡🫡🫡🫡🫡

Totally agree, Donny is one of the greats of RnB and Gospel music. Taken way too early he was influential, there has never been anyone like him nor will there ever be anyone like him.

Well said. Donny's output was great despite what was done to him. He was too black and too strong for the music industry devils, so they destroyed him and took him out. But Donny Hathaway was a true beacon of light that still shines bright after all these years. Thank you, Donny.

There's only one Donny and one Marvin. No rivalry. Two tortured genius gone too soon. Rip to both of them.

What's sad is, Marvin probably had bipolar disorder too. There's a reason he suffered from bouts of depression. To many of our people suffer without getting the proper help needed, and oftentimes it leads to self medication.

Marvin's and Donny's symptoms sound similar.
