Thank you for this. This video helped me make the exact swap for my bike. It was my first rear derailleur swap. The detail in the video, especially the adjustments, helped me get this right the first time. 🎉👍
Just subscribed. Realised that every time that I want to do a task on my bicycle and think "there are going to be key details to know, to save time and not mesd up the process, I end up here. Thank you.
You've got the most thorough, well thought out videos that cover everything any beginner or pro would want to know. I really appreciate it and hope you keep doing more!
This was SO helpful! Perfect training material so that I can now understand that intimidating rear derailleur. It was really nice of you to post this for guys like me who want to know their bike in detail. Thank you so much!
This video is GREAT!!! My First time installing a front d, a rear d, and a new crank set. This video (a long with a new chain install and front d install) saved me a bunch of time. Good advise, precise info, easy to follow. I was able no nail it almost to perfection on my 1st time. Minor adjustments and done! Thank you so much for this video!👍👍👍🚲💨
Great video, as always. I’m done letting anyone else work on my bikes. Every time I get them back, I always have to fix other people’s work. Very appreciative of the level detail ink your videos!
Absolutely awesome video, sir. I had searched with Google, and your outstanding video didn't come up. I ran a Bing search, and here it was. Exactly what I needed. Only minor suggestion would be to add info about fitting the chain. Thanks again for taking the time to share your expertise. (I can't figure out why the heck you received ANY down votes.)
Great video! Thanks. When I adjust the b screw to have the perfect gap on larger cog - it makes the smallest cog setting flap my chain around like mad 😩 Does that mean my chain is too long? Thanks
Is it possible to adjust H and L bolts after the real derailleur cable has been attached and fixed to its place? Or, only possible to adjust the those bolts - smallest and largest cog screws without the cable attached? If so, could I have done a mistake by screwing the bolts after the cable is attached and the derailleur is "active"? Thank you!
The RX-800 is more a road style derailleur and the GRX-810 is more like a mountain bike derailleur. If you still run a double front chainring and ride a mixture of gravel and road I would use the 800 over the 810.
@@FreeToCycle is there technical data on what the exact differences are - considering the savings on the RX800 (both weight and £20 in cash) even with gravel riding, one would be inclined to favor the Ultegra over the GRX. It is worth noting that Cannondale went for the Ultegra RX for their Topstone Gravel Bike instead of GRX.

Thank you very much
Great video! Thanks. When I adjust the b screw to have the perfect gap on larger cog - it makes the smallest cog setting flap my chain around like mad 😩
Does that mean my chain is too long?
Thanks
Yes chain is slightly to long!
Top notch!
Which cycle repair stand do you use?

Set the limit screw without the cable attached!
Great video. Thank you. Did you find you had to run a longer chain with this derailleur vs a standard ultegra long cage?
No same size chain!
Free To Cycle thanks! Just found your channel and great content. Keep it up! Appreciate it
will this be compatible with 11-46 xt m8000 cogs?
Have you tried the newest hydro grx shifters? Nuce colour that frame.
Yes I have tried the GRX600 shifters!!
Great Video! Besides price and weight, is there any difference between the Ultegra RX-800 and GRX-810?

Will this work with a roadlink and 40t cassete?
Yes it will, you don’t need a roadlink to run a 40 cassette!
