@@BoloDaProducer That's crazy work for presonus and I knew it when they unveiled it. I'm gonna hate disconnecting all of this hardware 🤣😂🤣 Happy Studio One and Mpc user!!!!
No it doesn’t, yes the sound is tighter smoother no doubt, but it’s not hitting harder, it’s more clearer though. Either one will work in any situation, if I just had to pick one, I’d go with presonus and I’ve been using studio one since 2011, but I using an Apollo x16 though
I could immediately tell which one was the Apollo. The Apollo sounds more polished on the high end and slightly more detailed. Plus the mix had more clarity on the Apollo. The Quantum sounds good though. I think it all depends on the sound you are going for.
I sold an Apogee Ensemble Thunderbolt Interface a couple years back. This looks like the front end of the Ensemble with the two instrument in/outs in the front. That’s enough for me to get one.
UA gets you because they have all the plugins. The Presonus sounds good. If I were just starting out the Presonus makes more sense. I prefer rack gear over plugins, so 2-3 essential pieces of rack gear with the Presonus and you’re off to the races.
@@BoloDaProducer Listen, i have an antelope audio discrete 4 very similar but I got more love for presonus that makes me want to trade up! thanks for the shootout!!
For clarity and air, the apollo has it beat for sure. If you're playing back real strings or other high freq content, go apollo. If you're producing your own midi/in-daw stuff, the presonus is a feirce competitor!
Interface 2 sounds better. Very clear and punchy. Not that different but it's definitely a difference. I hope number 2 is the Apollo X6 cuz that's what I use lol
The point of these shootouts is proving your equipment is not the reason people music sounds trash! Either of these are good enough for what 95% of people need them for.
I agree, There isn't too much of a Difference. The Highs on the second interface are much crisper and the lows are better represented in the mix.. I say #2
1. Sounds wider, cleaner, and more analogue. UAD X6 || 2. Sounds more digital and a little more congested. Presonus Quantum 8. || If I was a hobbyist, I would get the Quantum 8. If I was serious about my sound and wanted to build clientele for my studio, X6 all day. In a full mix with plugins and fx, the X6 is the way to go over the Quantum 8.
I honestly didn't hear a thousand dollar difference. But then again, I'm listening on phone speakers. I'll listen again on headphones when I get home, then update this post if I do notice a substantial difference. I don't think there is much of a difference though.
So I listened again in my studio, first time was on AirPods, and I gotta say they are close, but I like the low end on the Quantum but the transients sound better on the Apollo to me. The Quantum sounds a bit more clear and has slightly more separation. The Apollo has that analog vibe. The Apollo workflow is unmatched though. I love recording with zero latency and still be able to use Auto Tune. If I was starting out man I might choose the Quantum though.
Interface 2 sounds like the transients aren't as sharp as 1, more glued together sound/feel. 1 sounds more dynamic/open/sharp/bright, 2 sounds more compressed/forward/round/warm. I think I like them both equally!
I ain’t gone lie! Number 2 got a lil boost on it and I like it. Both super super close. Presonus it is. I already get tire of having my twin sit on my desk and not I don’t have to get the X6 so yessirsky!
This is a huge difference, both sound great Vibe on that sample , I can’t say which is better ? I had to listen to trumpets , trombone , Latin percussion, and them some guitars . LUNA / DSP / Plug-ins / Daisy Chain system directly Avid competitor. Presonus the closest it gets to them , the cheapest the UAD and Avid had to become . 😂 great time to be alive .
I like this unit because it has 8 preamps on the back with all the other digital inputs and outputs for a fraction of the price for the Universal Audio Apollo X8. I own the UAX4 and I’m thinking about this presonus- what’s your professional opinion?
I wonder what had to be level matched? Meaning which one did you have to turn up is my question. I could be wrong but are apollo outputs dbu wise are louder.
I recently been looking at a Presonus Quantum HD4 with a Cranborne 500ADAT with some 500 services modules s to create a change strip and get extra in/out or get the Cranbore 500R8 with is an interface and 500 series rack
The presonus, sounds a little more brighter which add a little more clarity on playback when I listen to the comparison. They both sound good but if someone made me choose which one to purchase off listening, I would have picked the presonus.
@BoloDaProducer Thank you for your answer! I wondering about this as well, and it was the first thing on my mind when I started watching this video. I thought this might be a "bad converters" solution for my MPC X. I guess not, since the Presonus isn't class-compliant. I wonder if I could get a cheap old used RME usb interface with 8 to 10 analog outs on it to use as an interface for my MPC? Then again, maybe there isn't a such thing as a "cheap" RME.
