Thank you! I've watched this video about 25 times, pause, start, pause, start, but I was able to get a nice sample piece of jacquard on the 4th attempt.
YOU ARE WANDERFUL! I GOT A MACHINE LIKE YOURS,BUT COULDN'T SORT OUT HOW TO MAKE JACKARD.AND ALL MY TROUBLES WAS IN THE BEGINING.NOW I THINK I GOT IT.THANK YOU SO SO SO MUCH. GOING TO BRING BACK MY MACHINE TO TABLE AND TRYING AGAIN. GOD BLESS YOU AND PLEASE DON'T LEAVE US.WE NEED YOU.
Your videos are excellent. You explain everything and give clear views of the knitting and ribber beds as well as the carriages. Thank you, it is a pleasure to watch a and learn from you. Kindest regards
I have just referred my Facebook of 965i knitters to your video. You explain very thoroughly and we have to change only one thing from what you do. We use the MC RIB key instead of the #7 button/lever to knit double bed jacquard. I like how you show each step of the knitting and of the programming. Now we know when to program the machine.
I am amazed that the machine can do that sort of design. I just recently got a Brother Scan n Cut machine to use for my digital files that I create for my craft fairs and love it. I can't imagine knitting with a machine like that though. Turned out very nice. I've added this to my Handmade Crafty Creators support playlist.
Great tutorial Jonathan! All your tutorials are so helpful . Would you be able to do a tutorial on the card reader ? Thank you so much for your time and sharing your knowledge.
Terrific. I really appreciated your explanations of carriage settings. Even more helpful was the written directions to supplement your demonstrations. Please make lots more videos. How about some on setup and basic use of the various Brother accessories and some on using a Passap? I see you have one. Thanks again for this video.
I know Im randomly asking but does anybody know a trick to get back into an instagram account?? I was stupid lost the account password. I would appreciate any help you can give me.
@Gus Khalid I really appreciate your reply. I got to the site thru google and im trying it out now. Seems to take a while so I will get back to you later with my results.
Thanks for the tutorial, very helpful. So essentially, it is fair isle without any floats, instead of knitting both yarns at the same time and the contrast floating when the main is knitting and vise versa, as in fair isle... You knit in full needle rib and in slip stitch throughout? Two rows with one colour and two rows with the other, with the main bed only knitting selected needle and the ribber knitting all Needles including the gaps where needles haven’t knitted on the main bed un selected needles? So it is going to take two passes of the carriage to knit one row and 4 passes to do one complete colour change cycle? Counting rows with the row counter must be tricky with Double Jacquard! Lol.
Hi thanks for a nice video. Quick technical question, can you do short rows while knitting double bed jacquard, for example to do toe / heel shaping for a fairisle sock knitted flat this way. If so could you do a video to demo this. Thanks Tom
Thank you for the video. I have a problem with everything jamming up and I’ve done everything I noticed that you have a larger gap between the ribber and the main bed. Could that make a difference?
Hi , daft question , what are the machine settings on Brother 950i to knit plain fabric to go with pattern fabric , eg jumper has single motif on front in DBJ so I need settings for below , above motif , back and sleeves ...thank you 😊
Hi, why is the tension better on this mast than the original? I was thinking of buying the tension mast stand for the double bed colour changer separately then putting two original tension units onto the new stand when working with 4 colours. But if you say the double bed tension is better I might buy them. Thanks :)
I’m not sure but I’ve a lot of experience working with this machine in the past and whatever the design of the original masts, they just don’t deliver the yarn at as good a tension as the double bed one does. I seem to recall some rows where it simply didn’t knit properly due to poor tension. The double bed colour changer comes with all the masts anyway so it would be silly not to use them. They are so good in design I simply don’t use the original ones anymore.
Thanks so much. I have watched your video over and over doing the double jacquard. If it wasn't for you, I dont think I would have got it right. So I too have a "penguin" jumper for my 11 year old, except I still need to complete it with sleeves. I have a question that perhaps you could help me with? I am using DAK 8 and made a stitch pattern of a Gryffindor Shield. I chose the "A Method" for Jacquard knitting in the machine setup but when I went to interactive knitting the picture is reversed and when I knit, the picture was not correctly defined and front and back was stripes. Any idea of what I am doing wrong? I read up in the help and it said that I have to select the reverse image on the 950i in order to knit correctly. However I dont see how it will get rid of the stripes front and back .I've taken about 20 hours in trying to get this right whilst learning how to use the DAK8 software. Do you perhaps know how to achieve knitting a picture/stitch pattern?
I'm glad you found the tutorial helpful, Susan. I think you are using the wrong method- it needs to be B. If you go on manuals section in stitch designer and go to page 235 there is a good explanation of the separation methods used and how they work.
i've done a 1x1 rib for a hat and want to do a dbj for a hat. do i need to move yarn from the bar between stitches to the empty needles on the machine and the ribber or just carry on with all the needles in work?
When going from 1x1 to full full needle rib or dbj where all needles are in use the easiest way is to bring all needles in work on both beds, then knit 2 circular rows. Ie knitting to right on main bed but not ribber, and then knitting right to left on ribber bed but not main bed. You can do this by using part buttons. You will need to knit extra rows after this to set up patterning for dbj or use the circular row on main bed with kc dial to set up patterning prior to knitting next section. Hope this makes sense x
@@jonathanscrafts that's what i was thinking but needed to be sure. it's my first time with the ribber and color changer. i've watched this video many times. it's the best of the DBJ videos on youtube. thank you for your help.

Thank you so much for uploading this. I am definitely going to give this technique a try - wouldn't have had the nerve without your tutorial.

I like the tutorial, but where can I find the "manuals section in stitch designer"?
Under Help menu, then click manual
Aha, thank you I found it. In DesignaKnit 8.
