Actually the best strategy is to lift the enemy. Basic physics. As the winner had done here, front wheels don't touch floor and rotate backwards, notice it. Your weight will increase thus have more friction with the ground, and enemy's weight will decrease thus having lesser grip. Slow (or not fast) moving, to use well the basic engine torque. Easy win after a very small lift (with good software for movements)

+woodywong76 They probably program the robot to wait after a certain amount of time,so that way they only have to synchronize the time they press the start (orange) button. At least that's how i would do it.
The operators of both teams(one from each team) push the button to start the program, once the robot is active it waits 5 seconds then the robots fight.
Liubao Zhang They use a light sensor (or color for some of them) to detect the white circle, and ultrasonic sensors to find the other robots :) Got a set myself

bottom line: be fast and agile, locate the other robot fast, have a low center of gravity. plus some kind of device to trip the enemy.
