Why do you think that is? Do they think they saw something in one of his word salads and want to feel smart when other people say he is nuts? Is it something political?
i think it mostly has to do with the fact that a lot of people cling to ideas and ideologies that give them the feeling that they have uncovered a secret truth about the world. whether it's flat earth, or the moon landing, or Terrence Howard telling them math and science is all fake, i think people seek out belief systems that 1) confirm their anti-establishment bias, and 2) provide a narrative that makes them feel like they're in the special group that "knows the thing". There does indeed seem to at least "some" controversy surrounding the square-root of [2] it seems, I asked [A.I. Search]: Indeed, there has been a fascinating controversy surrounding the square root of 2! Let’s delve into it: "...is there some kind of square root of 2 controversy?" Irrationality of √2: The proof that the square root of 2 (√2) is irrational is often attributed to Hippasus of Metapontum, a member of the Pythagorean cult. However, historical evidence is somewhat murky. Hippasus discovered that √2 cannot be expressed as a simple fraction (i.e., a ratio of whole numbers). This revelation challenged the Pythagoreans’ belief in the primacy of whole numbers and ratios. Legend has it that Hippasus was murdered by his fellow Pythagoreans for revealing this mathematical truth, as they were uncomfortable with the existence of irrational numbers1. Babylonian Approximations: The Babylonians, who used a sexagesimal system (base 60), naturally encountered the square root of 2. The diagonal of a unit square corresponds to 2-√2. While Babylonian mathematical sources typically provided examples rather than algorithmic specifications, there is evidence of a method called the Babylonian method for computing square roots. Fractions with power-of-60 denominators (e.g., 24/60, 51/60^2, 10/60^3) arose from numerical computations in their sexagesimal system2. Abstract vs. Practical: The square root of 2 has practical applications, such as measuring the diagonal of a square or sizing rectangular storage facilities. However, the Babylonian tablet YBC 7289, which approximates 2-√2, is likely a school exercise rather than a practical problem. Abstract mathematical concepts were explored even in ancient times2. Terrence Howard’s Unconventional Theory: Actor Terrence Howard once proposed an unconventional theory: “One times one equals two because the square root of four is two, so what’s the square root of two? Should be one, but we’re told it’s two, and that cannot be.” His perspective challenges conventional mathematics but lacks mathematical rigor3. In summary, the square root of 2 has intrigued mathematicians, philosophers, and even actors throughout history! -source, BING Deep AI Search
I would love a video more on where he's basing these beliefs on? Like besides himself I feel like he's getting this from somewhere he did mention the periodic table but...
@american_cosmic how does one conjugate waves? Conjugate: to give the different forms of a verb What is a wave? A wave is a disturbance in a medium that carries energy without a net movement of particles. Those words together mean nothing
i thought this also, then i looked it up. the same CONCEPT had been expressed before (by many different people in the middle ages and on), but not quite in the way that Newton expressed it. the exact quote i used does in fact belong to Newton.
Stephen Hawking’s however would argue that all models are “ just made up” Are you suggesting from a philosophical position that mathematics is necessarily and objectively true? In other words simply exist in some physical realm of reality? If mathematics isn’t simply mental concepts, then in what realm do they exist? Are you prepared to say that something truly exists outside of the material realm? Certainly such equations or truths are not physical entities of the material world
The only way to show Terrence that sqrt(2) is irrational is to lay out every single step in the proof. I will assume here that Terrence clearly knows the definition of a rational number, irrational number, common factors, greatest common factors, and even and odd numbers. (1) Let a, b and c be positive integers, gcf(a, b) = d implies gcf(a/d, b/d) = 1. Proof: Let e be a positive integer such that e|(a/d) and e|(b/d) implies a/d = e * j1 and b/d = e * j2 implies a = (d * e) * j1 and b = (d * e) * j2 implies (d * e)|a and (d * e)|b, but where given gcf(a, b) = d implies d * e q) (~q --> ~p) is a tautology. (3) Prove: sqrt(2) is irrational. (An argument by contradiction is used here) Proof: Assume sqrt(2) is rational this implies there exists positive integers a and b such that a/b = sqrt(2), where gcf(a,b) = 1.(Note this is always possible by (1)) implies a^2 = 2 * b^2 implies 2|a^2 which by (2) implies 2|a implies a = 2 * j implies 4 * j^2 = 2 * b^2 implies b^2 = 2 * j^2 which implies 2|b^2 which by (2) implies 2|b implies 2|a and 2|b, which contradicts that gcf(a,b) = 1, therefore the assumption is false and the initial premise is true. (Done) Terrence, if you are not acting, I cannot see how you would be able to dispute any of the above here. Note: It may be that Terrence is doing what he does best, that is, acting. Is anyone familiar with Andy Kaufman?

There does indeed seem to at least "some" controversy surrounding the square-root of [2] it seems, I asked [A.I. Search]:
Indeed, there has been a fascinating controversy surrounding the square root of 2! Let’s delve into it:
"...is there some kind of square root of 2 controversy?"
Irrationality of √2:
The proof that the square root of 2 (√2) is irrational is often attributed to Hippasus of Metapontum, a member of the Pythagorean cult.
Babylonian Approximations:
The Babylonians, who used a sexagesimal system (base 60), naturally encountered the square root of 2.
Practical:
The square root of 2 has practical applications, such as measuring the diagonal of a square or sizing rectangular storage facilities.
However, the Babylonian tablet YBC 7289, which approximates 2-√2, is likely a school exercise rather than a practical problem. Abstract mathematical concepts were explored even in ancient times2.
Terrence Howard’s Unconventional Theory:
Actor Terrence Howard once proposed an unconventional theory: “One times one equals two because the square root of four is two, so what’s the square root of two? Should be one, but we’re told it’s two, and that cannot be.” His perspective challenges conventional mathematics but lacks mathematical rigor3.
In summary, the square root of 2 has intrigued mathematicians, philosophers, and even actors throughout history! -source, BING Deep AI Search
I would love a video more on where he's basing these beliefs on? Like besides himself I feel like he's getting this from somewhere he did mention the periodic table but...
Can you explain why 0.50 X 0.50 = 0.25
If you have 0.50 litters of water and multiply by 0.50,why did water decrease to 0.25 litters of water ?
because (x 0.5) means to reduce by half.
if you have half a liter (0.5), and you halve it (x 0.5), then you have 0.25 liters.
1 times 1 is the same as 1 times 200.
Whenever you multiply by 1, it’s just the other number.
1 group of however many.
Terryology is nonsense.
You just haven't done the proper wave conjugations yet!
@american_cosmic how does one conjugate waves? Conjugate: to give the different forms of a verb What is a wave? A wave is a disturbance in a medium that carries energy without a net movement of particles. Those words together mean nothing
@@mattbeckley9483 Exactly. it's preposterous, and i don't know which is more obnoxious... Terrence Howard's willful ignorance or his ego.
@american_cosmic his particular brand of pseudoscience is infuriating because his money and influence blind people to how dumb his ideas are
You mad bro 🤣
At least Deepak Chopra has a degree
He has a PhD in quantum consciousness
@@alyousuf LOL 😂😂
@@alyousuf that was funny 😂
Why did that one at that one bar not saying anything,
Cause it was all by itself. 🙃
Lmfao what is this 🤣🤣🤣
So right Kevin its amazing people are so gullible and so quick to believe this guy because he is a Actor. The Jesse Smollet theory! 😄
iisac neuton didnt make the shoulders of giants quote. it was a french naturalist
i thought this also, then i looked it up. the same CONCEPT had been expressed before (by many different people in the middle ages and on), but not quite in the way that Newton expressed it. the exact quote i used does in fact belong to Newton.
@@opinion8d the quote is from Bernard of Chartres. anybody else using it is repeating HIS quote. issac may have said it but he was referencing bernard
I wonder if he's gonna start a cult
Terrence is JOINING a cult...
It's sad that you can't tell that he's mentally ill. Good job making fun of him.
Thank you
O yeah, well, poop can be liquid or solid...
Lifes a lie
Stephen Hawking’s however would argue that all models are “ just made up” Are you suggesting from a philosophical position that mathematics is necessarily and objectively true? In other words simply exist in some physical realm of reality? If mathematics isn’t simply mental concepts, then in what realm do they exist? Are you prepared to say that something truly exists outside of the material realm? Certainly such equations or truths are not physical entities of the material world
I believe it's the I M D M B A F community
The only way to show Terrence that sqrt(2) is irrational is to lay out every single step in the proof.
I will assume here that Terrence clearly knows the definition of a rational number, irrational number, common factors, greatest common factors, and even and odd numbers.
(1) Let a, b and c be positive integers,
gcf(a, b) = d implies gcf(a/d, b/d) = 1.
Proof: Let e be a positive integer such that e|(a/d) and e|(b/d) implies a/d = e * j1 and b/d = e * j2
implies a = (d * e) * j1 and b = (d * e) * j2 implies (d * e)|a and (d * e)|b, but where given gcf(a, b) = d implies d * e q) (~q --> ~p) is a tautology.
(3) Prove: sqrt(2) is irrational. (An argument by contradiction is used here)
Proof:
Assume sqrt(2) is rational this implies there exists positive integers a and b such that a/b = sqrt(2), where gcf(a,b) = 1.(Note this is always possible by (1))
implies a^2 = 2 * b^2 implies 2|a^2 which by (2) implies 2|a implies a = 2 * j implies 4 * j^2 = 2 * b^2 implies b^2 = 2 * j^2 which implies 2|b^2 which by (2) implies 2|b implies
2|a and 2|b, which contradicts that gcf(a,b) = 1, therefore the assumption is false and the initial premise is true. (Done)
Terrence, if you are not acting, I cannot see how you would be able to dispute any of the above here.
Note: It may be that Terrence is doing what he does best, that is, acting. Is anyone familiar with Andy Kaufman?
I'm gonna pretend to be a wrestler to piss off wrestling fans yes Jerry the king Lawler beat the hell out of him and he came back in a fuckin brace 😂😂😂 guy was a genuis R.i.P he was good friends with Devito too guy is literally one of the greatest actors of all time
I just conjugated the angle of incidence, so this is false
Is it a Andy Kaufman stunt ??? 😮
Just for the record TH did release a "music" album and predictably it sucked. I'm sure he thinks it's failure was because of a conspiracy and not just because it sucked ass. Great video I think TH is a perfect test to see who is gullible and doesn't really understand science or critical thinking. Some new age types hear words like frequency or vibration and their spirit science brain fully engages!
Dividing LIGHT to get back to the original SOUND???? I generally think he's schizophrenic.
Thank you for putting so much time and effort into this because I can actually think clearly again. The word salad ate my brain. You totally cured me bro!
He created his own Metaverse (an imaginary world having its own rules/physics)
