Love the idea of a bumperless racket, but I saw comments on forums about the X Tops eventually wearing down to the point that the strings were no longer protected by the frame. Has anyone heard, or experienced this issue?
I also witnessed/experienced this on the Carboflex X-Top 130. I had a huge dent/scratch/abrasion mark in mine, which made me question the design if this progressed any further. Not sure what TF plan on doing with respect to that.
Hey there. A number of factors to consider such as the type of racket you have, the type of string you're using or what you want out of your string (Power, Control or Even?) Jon Sharpe has a useful spreadsheet to help with that: www.string-doctor.com/tensions-tips
Just my experience but I feel like the popular tear drop shape lasts longer. I tried a classic shape oliver and it broke in the first month. I'm playing with my tecnifibre tear drop again. What do you think because I'm actually thinking about getting this new tecnifibre racket you previewed in this video? Do you think it will last just as well as their other rackets?
Which Oliver was it? If it was the Oliver Edge, then I am no surprised as these have been know to break. I don't think the shape of the racket would lead to breakages. I have broken a TF Carboflex and recently the TF Suprem Curve. There are many factors to consider (manufacturer defaults, where the racket broke, brand (sometimes), material of construction, tensions (higher tensions could lead to fragile frames)) So I or any manufacturer cannot guarantee that a racket will be bulletproof, due to the nature of the game as well as many other variables.
@@clecsty7508 So I am waiting for my pre-order which only comes mid-October unfortunately. I will be using the 120. I do enjoy the traditional frame and the small head size makes is similar to the Suprem NG which is my all time favourite racket. I'm hoping it will be similar to that but I have to wait a while to confirm. If it wasn't the 120, I would have been looking to switch to a Harrow Vapor. Are you thinking of getting a slash?
I've got some at home which I'm testing (in secret). Can't share close ups yet but will do a link up with you once they're officially released.
Thanks Jon
Myself and the subscribers will really appreciate it
You tease Jon!
@stringdoctor6238. they have officially been released.

Thanks for the video, looking forward for in depth review of this racket, specially 120.
Thank you.
Already pre-ordered mine but they will only arrive in about 3 weeks from now.

@thesquashbagel thank you for the information, and yes it was the oliver edge.
