And, interestingly enough, it was based on the 1965 work "Cavaler" So it was really from a show car ahead of it's time. Check 1965 AMC Cavalier on Google images. Pushed forward by Roy Abernathy, the CEO everyone likes to trash and is totally misrepresented in the auto media world
Thanks Osborn. I was expecting boring silence so I appreciated your having added some music. I especially like the look of these models that came before the huge insurance corporation bumpers.
I owned a 1975 Sportabout. Of all my vehicles, that was the best styled, most balanced, most practical car I ever owned. The Hornet line was the best styled compact of the 1970's.
I like the green Sportabout, it would be better with a matching green interior or a beige/tan/gold one, but at least AMC gave you a white headliner with the black interior so it's not too dark and cave-like inside.
I'm not sure on this, I've heard there was a dealer film made for the 1971 model year and these hornet shots were in it, some of them that is. I don't have history on how these negatives came to exist.
The Hornet was one of the best styled cars of the 70's. AMC managed to do a lot with a little.
Agree

Not gonna lie, that's some very high quality video for that era. Nice find!

The yellow 2 door Hornet at the end had a 3-on-the-tree manual transmission.
I was 2 years old in '71
I have to say that one Sportabout is better than two Gremlins.
Great video. Great car. Maybe I'm biased because I own one.
The greatest music video EVAH!

Maybe the raw footage was made for dealers to cut their own TV ads using?
