A Calif. Zephyr in Ft. Morgan on 23SEPT2024

- This morning's California Zephyr #5 arrived in Fort Morgan at 0545 MDT (departed at 0548 MDT 2 min. tardy). P42s #201 & #78 brought the 8-car consist to a stop with car 7 to the station platform for passenger service to 4 new patrons. There were no detraining passengers.
With the station work safely completed, the high ball was given and on a clear signal at west Ft. Morgan CP the Zephyr resumed its westward trek with the next station being Union Station in Denver.
I was joined by viewer Rick from Illinois. Always a treat to have company here on the platform for the Zephyr.
The gentleman and is group are headed to northern California for a 60rh class reunion. It was nice to have a chat with him.

The last car in the train was a Coach/Cafe car and not the usual baggage/coach car.

Good morning Mike. It's engineer Gracie. It's been awhile. Grandmother had another heart attack. She is now home and doing good. She goes to the heart doctor tomorrow. I am going to take Grandmother on a train trip very soon. Thank you for sharing it with us. The amtrak crew said hello and thank you. Please give your mom lots of love from me. Good morning, Jim; I thank you for dropping by and the comments. Well, I can deal with the 80s and I am reading maybe another 90 later this week. The low temps seem to run around 50 so no issues there. I didn't use the trike today. I will be back on it tomorrow.

Good morning, Gerald; I thank you for tuning in as well as the comments. That was a decent morning on the platform. I just read Engineer Gracie's comments. Angela is in my prayers as she recovers from this last one. I am hoping that her cardio has some good news for here. We return the 50s for lows tomorrow morning. Looks like the 80s for at least the rest of September.

Good Monday morning Mike! Believe it or not, it’s 58 degrees here at 9:26 AM. Should be 71 degrees here today. We finally got a steady rain during the night and it was very welcome! Number 5 almost overshot the stop. Right where you were standing. Have a great Monday out your way Sir! That was a pleasant chat with the couple who were heading west! Mark in Iowa.

Yeah good morning Mike I'm sure that was nice to have some company on the platform. You know my dad served in the military in the 60s. He was in germany. His dad was in world war II and on my mom's side her Dan served in the pacific. I've had other relatives who were in the military Air Force I think one was and then one other one was in the army. So you know I get that it's always nice to hear the people that served talk about their experience in the service. Thanks for your service Mike and have a great day. I saw the club car in the back of the train like you pointed out. It's probably some equipment move.

That coach/cafe car has been thru before. I didn't catch it yesterday when this train stopped in Galesburg as the camera operator was all over the place with the PTZ cam back there. Oh well.

Good morning Mike from 71 sunny mid Tenn. Boy was wondering if they wanted to get to Denver and check out, they almost overshot the runway( station). Nice for you to have a companion there in the dark while waiting for #5. Autumn is 1 day late getting here it appears.
Good morning, Ben; I thank you for tuning as well as the comments. I had planned to ride the trike this morning but was rather rushed to get to the platform. The heater in the cab of the pickup works quite well and the fog was cleared from the windshield long before the 7 blocks was covered. It was nice to climb back into the cab after the meet. I am planning on riding the trike tomorrow with the lows in the 50s again. Gasoline went up a few cents again here in Colorado and specifically here in Fort Morgan. Greed. Both corporate and personal types.
