Two amazing singers. Frida was more mature and spoke five different languages well, so she helped agnetha here at times. Each woman had an amazing voice, and when put together in harmony, they made the most wonderful music.
A few comments about ABBA: They were a truly musical group, relying on great melodies and harmonies. For this, we must thank Benny. He used the whole musical scale to effect, injecting key changes and minor chords much as Lennon and McCartney had done. He also varied the style of music from song to song. A self-taught pianist, he clearly falls into the category of musical genius.. Bjorn wrote great lyrics, many of them centering around real life, both euphoric and tragic. They are the kinds of stories to which all humans can relate. Both guys were good singers and musicians. As for the ladies, they were , by chance--and still are--both extremely lovely. Agnetha received much of the early attention. My personal theory is that since the era of Marilyn Monroe, blondes have been seen by many people--men in particular--as sex kittens. Fair enough. But Frida is classically beautiful. Her early fashions and hair styles tended to hide this beauty. But as early photos and some videos indicate, she had a startlingly lovely face, which she revealed much more routinely later on. And both of them had the finest singing voices of any contemporary female singers---ever! They were--and are-- a magical group. America was very remiss in not embracing them more at the time. I think we do now. We fully realize this was one of the greatest pop/rock groups ever. Their music lives on--and always will.
what makes this band so special is how simple and humble they all were in spite of the incredible talent they had. An example of excellency as people and as artists
It's not in spite of talent. Talent is the reason they are humble. It's only the fakes who need to play the inaccessible rock stars to hide their lack of talent.
When the journalist asks if the LP contains happy or sad songs, both women stay silent a few seconds being unease... Agnetha gets round the question telling that this record includes both happy and sad songs when it's obvious the general atmosphere of it conveys deep melancholy or a sad irony in each track. Both women already knew Abba's story was ending up at that time. "The Visitors" is by far my favourite Abba studio LP: poetic lyrics, music with classical influence and classy atmosphere. The sleeve of the record completely fitted this showing a beautiful scenery in subdued light. It was the very last original LP recorded by the band: a kind of legacy in a way.
Lifelong Abba fan and I've never seen this, thank you. The Visitors is dark and moody, but I like the atmosphere in it. Like an angel... and I Let the Music Speak are so dreamlike.
„The Visitors“, the very last album and the very first CD after all the LPs. It was the „Good Bye“- Album! Look at the cover! All 4 stand alone for their own! They knew the future and the end! :-(
I love Agnetha's crystal clear voice and Frida's voice is so good, but so good that when I die and the angels don't sing like Frida, I'll press charges.
For those wondering, the reporter says at the beginning "The girls of ABBA never accept any interviews, but for some strange reason/through some miracle I was allowed to come to Stockholm [to talk to them]."
@Marvin Morawski Usually its only the guys. Sometimes the complete group. But they almost never do that. Also not when they anounced their new album yesterday
Yes I spotted that too and it's quite funny. At the time nobody realized she was probably not allowed to say that (by Stig Anderson most certainly), that all solo projects were not supposed to be yet unveiled to the world so as not to create suspicion on the rumours of a split. Frida was about or had already started to record "Something's Going On". With retrospect, it's quite funny to see that she was going to spill the beans...😯
They look quite downhearted but they ought to be proud of that album. A lot of bands drag out their demise with ever decreasing quality. Not so with ABBA. 'The Visitors' wasn't as big a commercial success as previous albums although it still went to #1 in a number of countries. But it's artistically superb and a great final studio album. I've even come to have a liking for the one hoiky track on it, 'Two For The Price Of One' as the backing vocals on that are sublime.
They were sad. Agnetha's troubles are well known, and I suspect primarily stemmed from guilt over her children being raised by a nanny. But Frida also was dealing with her own issues - depression after meeting her father, etc. No one was holding a gun to their heads, and of course they made a lot of money, but the band also exacted its toll, and it seemed the two women (especially Agnetha) paid the lion-share of that bill.
Well, Agnetha and Bjorn had already broken up here...in late 1978, between The Album and Voulez Vous periods. This interview was in 1981. In fact, Bjorn was likely already remarried here. He remarried before the end of ABBA. And, The Visitors was 1981, the year Frida and Benny broke up, so thinking either the problems were coming here for Frida, or Frida and Benny had also already broken up here. Agnetha and Bjorn were married for about 9 years, 1971-1979...throughout MOST of the ABBA years, and Frida and Benny were only married for about 3 years, 1978-1981...toward the end of ABBA.
Annifrid hay tristeza en su rostro ella despues del divorcio le vino deprecion en cambio ellos felices y contentos nos les importo nada un par de inmaduro y payasos ellas fueron superiores en todo aspecto a las mujeres actuales
No, it wasn't the end yet…there were 2 more new songs for "The SIngles" and then songs recorded for "Opus X" before the end came part way through that project. Also Frida says there were not extra tracks but there were indeed like "Should I Laugh Or Cry" and "Cassandra."
No they didn't know it was the end though they might have felt it was nearing. They sincerely tried to write another album in 1982 but the sessions were not going easily, and they unfortunately scrapped the idea only releasing two new singles and a Singles collection. And even then in their last interviews they tried to assure everyone that they were not going to split up...
Agnetha almost choked on the word 'solo projects' which was the big Freudian slip here. She must have focused and arguably been briefed not to say anything about the imminent solo works, that it was the very words she almost spat out. I would have loved to see how Frida must have beaten her ass after that interview, lol.
I have a live Album, but i don't know the year..I think 1982 it was released. It may not have been an official one. It contains songs from the Dick Cavett Performance.
I guess you didn’t research before you made that comment. Hopefully in the years since,, you found some time Live at Wembley is fabulous. Check it out if you haven’t. It’s a triple album.
Here you can see how the girls supported each other....they must have gone through so much.
Frida has a beautiful smile when she flashes it!! ❤️
Two amazing singers. Frida was more mature and spoke five different languages well, so she helped agnetha here at times. Each woman had an amazing voice, and when put together in harmony, they made the most wonderful music.

Thank you so much for these great comments on ABBA. I couldn't have said it better.
William Overly good comment. I agree. The ladies were absolutely stunning singers and both beautiful
@@Tawadeb
Thanks, Debbie: much appreciated.

Thanks from Bill.
Fantastically said!!!
what makes this band so special is how simple and humble they all were in spite of the incredible talent they had. An example of excellency as people and as artists
you are right William
Yes, and that's one of the reasons why they were so loved and why they had so much success. That's really difficult to understand for lots of people.
It's not in spite of talent. Talent is the reason they are humble. It's only the fakes who need to play the inaccessible rock stars to hide their lack of talent.
You are so right, galier2. I have met some top artists backstage for interviews etc. And it's the truly great that are really humble.
I think a big part of that is that they are Swedish, in Swedish culture it's seen as very important to be humble
When the journalist asks if the LP contains happy or sad songs, both women stay silent a few seconds being unease... I totally agree. It's absolutely brilliant. Also my favourite
Pierre-Laurent Sisley: You have a very psychological look at the 2 girls! You are absolutely right!
Not quite the last! Woohoo Voyage! (39 years later lol).
Its not their last anymore
Head over Heels and Two for the Price of One are fun, lively and happy songs
Lifelong Abba fan and I've never seen this, thank you. The Visitors is dark and moody, but I like the atmosphere in it. Like an angel... and I Let the Music Speak are so dreamlike.
Gosh, they even talk as beautifully as they sing....
I grew up listening to ABBA, and I've always been blown away by the accent in their speech, and lack of accent in their singing...
Very smart comment from you. This is my first time listening to them in a interview and you are right.
The accent is the tone of the speech. When they sing, the tone of the speech is the music...
I knew an American teenage girl back then who was sure that ABBA were an American band :))
Je les ai ADORE et c'est toujours le cas depuis petite fille. Belles, talentueuses, simples. Des voix en Or ! 💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖
I love these ladies very classy
Agnetha is quite serious here and you see it's not easy for Frida...all those things that happened and she is going through at this time...SAD
Frida's so beautiful, so as Agnetha
my fav ABBA album by far!!!
„The Visitors“, the very last album and the very first CD after all the LPs. It was the „Good Bye“- Album! Look at the cover! All 4 stand alone for their own! They knew the future and the end! :-(
They sound so sweet ♡
Classy and elegant. Swedish is my favorite accent of all, especially for women.
Love these ladies!!! 🌹💪🏼
they are so cool together.
Very beautiful Album ❤️ Gratulations ABBA :)
I gotta applaud “One of Us”. In my opinion, ABBA’s best song.
ABSOLUTELY!!
I love Agnetha's crystal clear voice and Frida's voice is so good, but so good that when I die and the angels don't sing like Frida, I'll press charges.
I'll join you in your lawsuit to heaven!
Frida es messoprano es master su voz es perfecta
Wow, I never heard this before. Beautiful.

Thanks :)
@Marvin Morawski Usually its only the guys. Sometimes the complete group. But they almost never do that. Also not when they anounced their new album yesterday
Frida looked so sad
Agnetha too. For both of them a very hard time. Agnetha looks like, she was near to cry and Frida was so wistful. The haven´t deserved this.
Love this track.
What stupid questions omg!!! But girls were so polite and answer all of them
Thank you, short but lovely :)
Freudian slip of the tongue from Agnetha there when she mentioned the planned solo project and changed it to live album.
Yes I spotted that too and it's quite funny. At the time nobody realized she was probably not allowed to say that (by Stig Anderson most certainly), that all solo projects were not supposed to be yet unveiled to the world so as not to create suspicion on the rumours of a split. The most stunning and gorgeous blonde woman I have ever seen in my entire life, and she's still smoking hot to this freaking day!❤
She is from my home town..😏

Excellent thankyou :)
I ❤️ em
they do both seem very sad here. i'm guessing they're on the cusp of breaking up around this time.
They were sad. Agnetha's troubles are well known, and I suspect primarily stemmed from guilt over her children being raised by a nanny. Agnetha was never really comfortable speaking English, Frida always was more comfortable giving interviews.
..RIP, Mies Bouwman
they both seemed really unhappy....
Annifrid hay tristeza en su rostro ella despues del divorcio le vino deprecion en cambio ellos felices y contentos nos les importo nada un par de inmaduro y payasos ellas fueron superiores en todo aspecto a las mujeres actuales
Such sadness, they can barely compose themselves.
They both look very unhappy....they knew it was the last album and the end of the band.

Андрей Назаров Bjorn and Benny had children to their new wives by then. That must have been very hard
Agnetha and Frida are so classy!!! Live them!!!

A interview

Many would like to see that, I dare say 😉
Oh please. Those women are friends and no one beats anyone’s ass.
What a stupid comment.
I would have loved a live album from them. I think Abba could have made a rare good live album. Agnetha is just paying lip service here I think.
I have a live Album, but i don't know the year..I think 1982 it was released. It may not have been an official one. It contains songs from the Dick Cavett Performance.

The full video of this interview is here👆👆
quite low level of interview. English of those 3 is childlish....
English was a good choice for the interview, considering it was unlikely the ABBA girls knew Dutch and the interviewer knew Swedish.
But, English was the choice for the widest audience. Sometimes you do what's best for the group. I bet your Swedish is childish too.
And you are perfect?😂😂😂
Let me see. You get interviewed in another language you were not that familiar with.. great respect for them doing this
