I always thought that she was made "homely" in the way that "Bailey Quarters" was treated in WKRP so as not to take away from the Loni Anderson character.
Sounded like an audio goof, Craig or someone else asking one of the producers what time it was, or something else. Or maybe Craig was asking America something and it didn't get cut.
