@rjones4748 what's funny...I saw a big comment thread about how difficult cast iron was, showed my partner while laughing. He asked what was funny... So we went to the thrift store and I found the most rusted cast iron pan I could. Get home, a good scrub with steel wool to get all the rust off, a wash with soap and water to make sure it was clean - then crank my oven all the way up while drying the pan on a burner, then rubbing it down in just plain veg oil. Throw it in the oven and kill the heat. My mom never even seasoned hers and she had them for 15+ years - but she used them daily and once cool enough to touch, but still hot, she'd wipe it out.
