So so dope! Ok where do I start? Well let me start by saying, I'm one of those who have that (I guess they call it 'ear-for-music') that gift that allows you to naturally hear the harmonies and each of the different notes within the harmonies. So since u are like that also, you know ppl like us just really love and appreciate listening to harmony! So some years back when I first heard the Rain acapella by SWV I was mesmerized. I'm sure u were too. So I was listening to it and trying to distinguish them all like normal and mannnn I was like ok this one is actually challenging! Because like u pointed out sometimes they go into the unison and then slide back out before u know it. So it was hard for me to (in my mind) just sing along with each one (as u did here on the break down). But I kept listening and just enjoying it because it sounds so pure. It's straight heavenly to those who can truly hear what's going on and appreciate it! Ok now fast forward to me finding u tonight. So I just randomly wanted to hear the harmony of that particular song again, and after listening, then your video pops up! I'm like oh! Wow let's hear this! I've seen ppl do the youtube thing with multiple mini me's and it's always fun to listen to. But never on this particular song. PLUS this was the song that always had me feeling like I wasn't quite getting all the notes like normally. So I was anxious to hear. So I pushed play and your intro started! Oh mannn I felt that good chills coming. I know u know what I mean. When you just hear such good harmony! I know only certain ppl will know what I'm talking about! I was like 😍😍 sounded soooo smooth! Just the intro! I was like yessss !! Then the verse starts and I'm waiting for the chorus because I know that's when the harmonies come. And I wasn't disappointed. U nailed it! I was like wow she figured it out! I was so impressed! And I thoroughly enjoyed the breakdown. Because of course it was basically splitting it up for me perfectly and I had been trying to do that in my head while listening to SWV and at times it would seem like there were even 4 parts because of how they seem to fluctuate harmonies. Like it made me sometimes think there were more than their were. I dunno. I really loved your breakdown! I've never met someone who could distinguish notes as they hear them like how I do. I think a lot of mainstream artists and singers of today don't use enough harmonies, except maybe Beyonce. But yes, this was a challenging one to breakdown or more so a challenge to explain it. The melody is on top and is very prominent the alto and tenor parts are hard to breakdown, harmonies with melody in the middle are easier to decipher, and harmonies with melody on the bottom are the hardest.
Yes! The harmonies are kinda tricky with this one. A lot of these old school songs sounded simple, but what they did with their voices is amazing!!! So full and textured!
