I've been tempted to open them up simply because I hear they have alternative covers underneath them and I don't think anyone will ever dare to open them to show it off. Rumor has it, Nicalis is just waiting until Limited Run Games is done with all of their releases so they can claim to release the last physical Vita games officially in North America. Such silly drama.
I would totally rip those open! lol. All my games have been opened and installed but I do wish I had these to show what's inside... we may never know though! Too rich for me.

I'm not positive about this, but I think the rarest / most valuable game in my own collection is the limited edition version of "Mary Skelter Nightmares". I bought it at launch from the Iffy Online Store, and the last time I looked, it had jumped up to over $300. I think it was one of those titles that nobody expected to make much of a splash, and it was stocked accordingly, but then it gradually developed a bit of a cult following. As always, many things in collecting are lucky guesses or total crapshoots.
My holy grails are my 3 cover variant copies of Rabi Ribi, and then Paper's Please, Criminal Girls 2 Limited Edition and my 20 sealed 2019 Limited Run Games Blind Boxes (which might have Super Meat Boy in one).

I remember we used to share cartridges when we went to the U, but now I kinda wish I saved the the Ray Gigant one...

I think I saw VVVVVV on the digital store... But really wish there was more interesting titles on the vita. I enjoyed the first dragon quest builders game on there and then the second of such amazing series on other platforms.

Around 9:30 you question whether the Nicalis games could've been bootlegs. How would a bootleg cartridge work? Would it work? Or would you pay $50 to the seller for a blank cart with nothing on it? I've always wondered but never asked.

@@PSVitaat2am I’m sure it was just all Japanese like the copy of phantasy star online I picked up didn’t leave that one , my trick is to use google translate on my phone (camera mode) and have it set up so when the Japanese subtitles come on I can Reed it lol I need to just learn Japanese. The vita collections in Japan were huge tho rows and rows even complete shop floors dedicated to it amazing 🤩 (also I have a jp vita blue I did have the original vita big one but dropped my bag and broke the screen)

I get where you're coming from. The reason I showcased these is because they are what Vita collectors deem to be holy grails, especially with 1001 Spikes and VVVVVV. They almost certainly had the exact same low print run.

I remember when I gave serious consideration to collecting every PS Vita game, in my corner of the woods the Vita was a complete flop and I figured there wouldn't be many games for it (a 100 or so..) but when I learnt of LRG, Strictly Limited, Red Art, Play-Asia and others.. I gave up that dream. Now hearing of these Promo games... makes me that much more glad I gave up on my silly little dream.. I'm left with ~120 or so games (games I actually want & play) and though I'm really not a game collector, I have a new goal since then, with no real belief I can pull it off but I intend to track down (and buy) all the Australian Releases for the PS Vita.. the twist on that is I'm only after the "R18+" ones.. I only have 2 so far, I know of 3 more Most you had to pre-order and were never sold in store >_
well 120 games IS a collection, so dont give up just yet. when people learn you collect "x" occasionally someone will just give it to you cause they know its going to a good home.

Something rare and expensive that you already own isn't a "holy grail." A "holy grail" is a game that you really, really want, and you've been hunting forever, and you can't find no matter how hard you try, so you start to believe that maybe it doesn't even exist -- kind of like the Holy Grail from Christian legend. A holy grail is something you're searching for, not something you've already found. What you've essentially done in this video is made some of these games in YOUR collection holy grails FOR ME, because now I want them and I ain't ever gonna be able to find them....

That is certainly true. Sometimes games you think will be rare won't be, and sometimes games you think won't be rare will be!

Honestly to this day I haven't run across a bootleg cartridge. I assume some people thought it could be empty cases with no game inside.

You’re using the analogy wrong. “Holy Grail” is singular, there can’t be more than one, that’s why it’s called THE Holy Grail.
I get where you're coming from. The reason I showcased these is because they are what Vita collectors deem to be holy grails, especially with 1001 Spikes and VVVVVV. They almost certainly had the exact same low print run.

I remember when I gave serious consideration to collecting every PS Vita game, in my corner of the woods the Vita was a complete flop and I figured there wouldn't be many games for it (a 100 or so..) but when I learnt of LRG, Strictly Limited, Red Art, Play-Asia and others.. I gave up that dream. Now hearing of these Promo games... makes me that much more glad I gave up on my silly little dream.. I'm left with ~120 or so games (games I actually want & play) and though I'm really not a game collector, I have a new goal since then, with no real belief I can pull it off but I intend to track down (and buy) all the Australian Releases for the PS Vita.. the twist on that is I'm only after the "R18+" ones.. I only have 2 so far, I know of 3 more

The nice thing about collecting is that you can make it what you want it to be. A full region set, a full genre set etc.
well 120 games IS a collection, so dont give up just yet. when people learn you collect "x" occasionally someone will just give it to you cause they know its going to a good home.

Something rare and expensive that you already own isn't a "holy grail." A "holy grail" is a game that you really, really want, and you've been hunting forever, and you can't find no matter how hard you try, so you start to believe that maybe it doesn't even exist -- kind of like the Holy Grail from Christian legend. A holy grail is something you're searching for, not something you've already found. What you've essentially done in this video is made some of these games in YOUR collection holy grails FOR ME, because now I want them and I ain't ever gonna be able to find them....
