      I'll say.
      Michiganuisiana could be an alternative of difficulty.

    Great job. Is the Preserve the same as the Nature Conservancy property down there in Nags Head correct? If it’s the same place, I alway hike there when we are on vacation. Haven’t seen much done on the east side of the M to S trail. You got a friend up in Shenandoah if you need anything. Thanks for the video during lock down.

    Looks like a great area. I live across a quiet street from a rather small wooded area that I have not hiked in years so this has me interested. I often visit a university arboretum about two miles from my home for a few miles of hiking sometimes walking, skiing or bike riding to it and it borders a rail trail I do year round. At times I do a hike from my home across town and back or to a local town and back for something different. Last week visited a rather unknown nature preserve hidden in the middle of town and plan to visit a new one not far from town that I could take the rail trail to. I live just west of the mountains but can see them from my neighborhood and only seven miles from town.

      Sounds like you have a lot of options. Thats great. I like to walk anywhere really. Its like meditation. You just walk, let your mind wonder a bit, and take in whatever surrounds you. I prefer hiking trails in the mountains, but exploring any area on foot can be fun I think.

    I live in the dry Permian Basin region of ENM & WTX where we have dune remnants from the sea that left behind our Oil & NatGas Fields. Google Guadalupe Mountains National Park, whose name sake Peak is the highest point in Texas. That Park is a mix of woods and ancient reefs left behind when the water receded. Interest mix of "mountains" and "ocean" interface in the middle of drylsnds. I volunteer with their Backcountry ROVERS.

    Great idea, what hoody are you wearing?

    • @TheUltralightMindset
      @TheUltralightMindset  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Appalachian Gear Company. 100% Alpaca.
      Size small. Can't say enough good things about it!!!

    • @Wondering_Fireball
      @Wondering_Fireball 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks, I have ordered one should be here today. Everyone raves about the hoody I guess I’ll find out when it arrives. Loved the Vlog, wish I had a big play ground out my back yard. I got the next best thing, swamp. Don’t have to worry about any one coming that way.

    So I have a few questions for you if you want to do a Q&A.
    1- where do you get that bacon!?!?
    2- how do you like the Appgearco beanie? How is the fit? I want to order one but I don’t want to get the wrong size (nothing like a beanie that is to small and doesn’t cover your ears)
    3- I’m originally from Asheville but live on the coast down by Wilmington, (once I get back from this deployment,..yep still out here!).....do you know of any good longer hikes on this end of the state so I don’t have to drive 6 hours? everything I have found local is only a few miles long.

    • @TheUltralightMindset
      @TheUltralightMindset  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes. Finally some questions! And these are GOOD ones.
      1- Bacon. Boarshead, Oscar Meyer, etc make precooked bacon. Easy to find in the grocery store. Comes in a box. Boards head is my favorite. 👍
      2- AppGear Beanie. The beanie is very deep which is great. Definitely will cover your ears. Being that its Alpaca, its very stretchy, so you want to get the regular size (smaller one) unless you have a very big head. I have a couple of these. I find the larger size fits a bit loose after a few weeks of wear. Great hat. Lightweight and warm. Get one. You wont be dissapointed.
      3- Trails. I lived on Wrightsville for 8 years. Still have friends and family down there. Id say the closest trail would be the Neusiok in Newbern. Its about 21 miles long. Part of the Mountains To Sea Trail. 3 AT style shelters. Its a great trail. Not great in warm weather though. Bugs will destroy you...😆
      Feel free to ask more questions. Stay safe out there!

      Stay safe but get outside on some adventure. Be prudent but definitely do not be paranoid.

      Im lucky that the preserve is still open. I have definitely seen an increase in people on the popular trails and even just joy riding the dirt roads. I get it. Its beatiful and people need to get out. But, Its not hard to follow the social isolation protocol in the preserve. Plus, I tend to run or hike a lot at 4 am or when the weather scares everybody away. Its my favorite time to get out there....👍

      Man, right now its limited to local trails. There are several nature preserves within a 20 minute drive of my house. My favorite, being just outside my house, so I'll be hiking, surfing, fishing here locally until we get past this virus.
      I had a lot planned for this spring/summer but its all on hold or cancelled. And yes, that is the AppGear stripe beanie. Blue stripe maybe? Damn, I cant remember. Its a great hat. How about you? Any plans for post-virus hikes?

      @@TheUltralightMindset I was able to get out to Delaware Water Gap little over a week ago. I live in Dover Delaware minus sea level. Drove 3 hours to Gap, hiked up to 1300 feet, stayed at Backpackers campground overnight. 43 degrees down to 28 degrees waking up. Packed up camp, and a fellow hiker and I cruised up to Sunfish Pond, a glacial lake at 1500 feet. I then made my way back to the Jeep for the 3 hour ride home. Great to get out. Weird that all tolls were closed, lot of places along trip had no fuel. Looking to escape into the woods near by. Did notice a homeless camp set up in the area I like to go. May push out past that area a bit. Be well, Terry.

    Your Q/A idea is somewhat ingenious. If you have a decent internet connection, you could pull off a Live stream.
    Or, have people ask questions on a video specifically catered to the questions. Then create a video of you hiking and answering.
