      I'll be launching my second techno-thriller next month. I gave away a ton of free books without anything tangible to show from it. I will also be greatly reducing the promos, like the ones you listed, to the ones that actually performed. I've joined several FB groups but I will look again at the number of subs for those groups. Great information on Booksprout and Pubby - will be checking those out. Have a great day, everyone.

      I'm still looking but so far haven't found a good video on "How to write a request for reviews in your amazon book that gets reviews!"
      Maybe you or someone else has made such a video? If not it's an idea for you.

      How do you get a review on a paperback book of you have to send it out? Ie. Journal, logbook etc?

    ...I did a Freebooksy promotion and the book got 1017 downloads, but so far none of those downloaders have left a review, or bought the other two books in the series. The book is a young adult based Fantasy book. I find that I have the most effect on Pubby.

    Great Video !
    One way to get reviews is to use ARC services - ARC stands for Advance Review Copy . These services will send copies of your book to readers that are interested in reviewing it
    Question - Should I publish my books under an LLC ?

    • @DaneMcBeth
      @DaneMcBeth  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I talked about ARC's in this video - Booksprout.
      You can publish under an LLC if you want, not necessary though

    Hey Dane, great video, I'm definitely going to try out the FB and Reddit ideas soon. I'm publishing using a pen name that is a brand name, but will not have an active Facebook page for it. Do you think it is a bad idea to use a brand page account to make these Facebook posts in relevant groups if my brand page is not very active (but is still properly filled out and linked?) I don't want to use my personal account because I'm not attaching my identity to the book, but I don't want to look fake and scammy by using a Facebook page that I won't be actively posting to.
    Finally, just a suggestion for your videos: I really like the slideshows because it helps me save time on notes by just screenshotting the video at the end of the slide, but your cuts are so short that for most slides I have to scrub the video a few times to grab the frame that has the full slide. It would be great to have the completed slides on-screen a few seconds longer so we can screenshot them easier for reference.
    Thanks for all your help, I love the videos :)

    I'm frequently asked to review a book. Occasionally I will get one electronically or in the mail. I agree only if they promise to post the review regardless of my opinion. Sadly, the vast majority of first timer authors fail miserably. They don't edit and end up with bad spelling, grammar and punctuation. They say "Ordurves" vs "hors d'oeuvres". Their grammar is unsteady - lie, lay, further, farther, effect, affect. You see "She asked how I and Julia met." Character never d They describe every detail vs letting the book tell the story. They insert needless political or religious bias. They follow trends (zombies, asteroids, pandemics) and do little research.
    Anyhoo, I posted the reviews and all stayed - even the bad ones. No problem. I sent a private letter explaining what they needed to work on and some were appreciative.

    Hi bro, appreciate your video but the data you give is not always accurate. You talk about FB groups in your niche. Groups won't allow you to advertise so this is totally nonsense. I know you have good intention but you are teaching people with misleading information. Educate yourself before educating others.

    • @DaneMcBeth
      @DaneMcBeth  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      haha, I have promoted tons of books and many, many Facebook Groups as well as tons of my students have done the same.
      You just have to find the right groups, contact the admins and see what they charge and/or contact members inside of the groups individually. It's not that hard 🙂

      @@DaneMcBeth I'm about to launch my first children's book, and was going to go the Facebook route as well; doing what you said Dane. Contacting members and administrators of the groups. I'll report back to this convo. I think Stephen thinks you have to go into the groups and advertise WITHOUT asking, WHICH YOU CLEARLY SAID TO ASK FOR PERMISSION.
