Joe, you're the real deal on youtube. You got the knowledge and are pleasant to listen to and watch. With so much BS going on, you're quite an exception. Lovely car, the M240i!
I think the M240 is optimized for the road and the M2 adds more juice and dynamics for the track. As a daily driver, the M240 hots the sweet spot. Which is why I have one coming. Fully loaded with the performance pack.
Almost every M performance ( M light ) car is better then full M car for most people and every day driving. Your reviews comes from the heart that why they are honest. It’s actually similar way like BMW M division been thinking for ages. They won’t be able to do it much longer. Let’s enjoy this car it may be the very last model like this. Future classic I guess.
Has to be the Best BMW in many a year. And that is saying something. BMW are smashing it! M4, M3 and on. And yet this is just about perfect in every sense. [And personally the rear is stunning!] Absolute perfection. A classic already. Thank You. Amazing.
Great car but can’t get over that rear end. One thing I love about my M340 is that there isn’t a single angle that looks bad. Surprised BMW didn’t down tune the engine to bring power below the M340 and 440. Good on them for that.
Can’t say I’m a fan of the 340i look from any angle. Just my opinion. It’s on the boring & conservative side but beauty is in the eye on the beholder 👌🏻
I have a M340i as well and my only gripe about the design is it doesn’t have great road presence. Like there’s nothing that blows you away. I’m current doing some mods that we’ll help do that do. This M240i will turn heads as is.

Great video, Joe, as always. That's a proper BMW coupe, a real drivers car. The engine / exhaust sound is so good and performance is epic. The drivetrain versatility is welcome too. Two things that could set the sales back a bit might be the price and the exterior design. This new 2 series might be another step closer to Cayman territory, IMO.

Great review Joe. Thank you Mr Achilles, I snapped mine this week 🤕 and my M240i is due end of January. You’ve given me a boost to get fit to be able to drive it properly.

It makes the M240i a much more attractive proposition for a daily and with all the restrictions we petrolheads are likely to face over the next few years it might even make more sense than a full M car unless you spend a lot of time on track.

Brilliant vid, Joe. I love your knowledge and sheer enthusiasm for the BMW brand. I’m really pleased that the car is so good because I’ve more or less made up my mind to buy one as a replacement for the Mk7.5 Golf R I had which I sold last summer 👌🏼
Ahhhh. BMW finally got it right. Love this car. Great video, joe I can feel your excitement about this car and I like your homage to the Original M-lights circa.
This is the first BMW in a long time to excite me. Sub-£50K for a sub-4 second 0-62mph super GT car that actually looks and sounds good, and is compact and practical enough to daily in a big city. I can't see the M2 version/s being so much better on the road, and will be a lot more money. I'm also not interested in a car setup for the track that is compromised on the road. Also, still a straight six, which after a V12 is my favourite engine type. For me, it blows a Golf R and a Cayman away. I'm struggling to think of a comparable package for much less than twice the price. And there's that law of diminishing returns to consider. I agree about the rear end design being its weak point, but I don't think it's bad. And I'm not sure what it'll look like in a typical monochrome colour, but I'm good with the dark purple metallic that makes it look great. I suspect that BMW is really on to a winner here, as I think this will appeal to older age group coupe lovers like me, as well as the typically younger buyers. I think this is the daily I've been looking for. And just to say that the huge toothy grilles have not grown on me; I still think they're unattractive. Great review. Thank you. (Spec'd as I would order one: £51,965-52,465 with or without active dampers)

Your reviews are fantastic Joe. Just watched your newer 220i review and great to see the references to this vid. Interesting your comment about the M240i reminding you of the 3.0l CSL as the first time I saw this car it reminded me of the 635CSi (minus the shark front end of course). I love that … one of my all time favourites. I plan to get an M240i one day - the main reason apart from the fact they look good, is that beautiful B58 and 8 speed gearbox. I believe in time, this will be seen as BMW’s best ever engine that they have produced. It’s over engineered and left in standard form will be ultra reliable. I have an X4 M40i which suits my work, especially the gravel roads. I love the sound of this machine and can only imagine what it’d be like to have this package in lower slung, lighter frame than an X4. An M2 would be too much of a stretch for me and really wouldn’t be able to justify the extra $$ when the M240i has that magical mixture of looks, performance, tech and comfort all rolled into one. Thanks for the awesome review. Your reviews are simply the best BMW reviews on TH-cam.

Ordered in M Brooklyn gray metallic 🥰.
The M Sport E61 is also a very nice car 👍.
Greetings to New Zealand
Thank you Joe ,for this first drive video 👌i'm waiting and looking for tests and videos of this car for weeks .Tomorrow i'll go to my dealer and order one 😍best regards ✌️
Nice review. Car magazine gave it 5 stars for handling. Bimmer back on form now. M2 should be brilliant.
This one was highly anticipated 🔥
As an owner of the current 240 I neeeeeed this car! Omg
I love it (+ Your's is the first M240i video I'm watching!)
Comparing the price in the US to the last Awd M240 it's about the same price not sure what people are complaining about for the price.
Good to see you back, Joe. Great ride!
This really makes me want one I love the new m2 especially in that metallic purple I love it
Great review Joe👍👍. You have actually outpaced the so called 'big guns'. So until you do a track battle video this may well be the last road review video i watch on the car. Well done
That colour is my all time fave ever!!! Fukin stunning man!! 😈😍👌
Another blinding video Joe, keep up the good work. I currently have a 330i hire car whilst my 67 plate golf is being repaired and have the BMW bug big time now. May be calling up TRL deals for a quote on one of these in part ex. Keep em coming Joe, having followed you in the early days of the blue 135i you’ve come so far. Congrats on your success mate 👌🏼😎
Thanks for (another) awesome video Joe. Definitely my go-to on TH-cam and Instagram 🙏😃
The F40 135i I have will be disappearing next year for one of these (not that colour)... hopefully some deals to be had on them
Way better looking over latest M3/4. I mean it’s just looks but you don’t buy a car and try to say look is growing on you it’s gotta impressed at 1st glance at every angle. Can’t wait for the M2
Thorough review as always - looking forward to speccing one in Oz - Brooklyn grey with kylami orange interior !
Worth mentioning that this gen M240x will ultimatively be produced at Mexico plant for the global market. Wondering what comes to the new M2
Beautiful, much better than the other unmentionable high sales BMW.
The arse end is nice too.
🤜🤛 For rocking the Pixel 6. My man, those who know _know_
Sorry, Pixel 6 pro.
Next video I expect a photo montage shot with it. 😀
I saw this car in this colour on display at Wentworth (BMW PGA golf tournament) earlier this year. It is FANTASTICALLY good looking.
Brilliant thanks Joe, can’t wait for mine to arrive early 22, moving from X3m following M2c & M3 tbh really excited about this “M” 😉
Oh yeah u r the 2m3forme from bimmerpost. Now I recall u lol
Bought this car based on your review for a daily driver! Keep up the awesome reviews!!
Great to hear thank you 👌
I was just about to go to bed and I see this. Bedtime delayed.
