  • Ground and pound defense from the dreaded side control crucifix is what you'll learn today. It is also called the Salaverry, the beatdown position and the puncher's side control. This is in my opinion the best position for GNP, and fighters must know how to escape it.
We at MMACoach.net help coaches, fighters and MMA enthusiasts bring their training to a new level. Our maxim "train smart - then hard" is what one of our most important guiding principles.

A friend of mine learned these skills from this video, it works a couple of times but in his last fight it doesn't work at all. Sometimes you win or lost. It's part of life

No technique works against all opponents. It's a question of who has better skills in which area, strength, endurance, experience, mental toughness... Fighting is complex, but that's why we love it.

I think that triangling the arm when you secure the crucifix provides even better control and gives you more attack options. it also makes it a lot more tricky to escape & counter. the staple can have some gaps which you may potentially escape from as you show here.....
Thank you for sharing the helpful tips. it really can be a nightmare to deal with as khabib shows

Some situations between elite level competitors are practically impossible to escape from, hence preventing the position in the first place is the huge bulk of the effort.

Is it possible to throw your legs up and try to roll yourself and them over and have side control? Of course they could keep hold of your arms as you rolled. Could you use that moment to free your arms too?

5 people decided to hit dislike.
5 people are haters. Maybe they don't want anyone to know lol! Probable. This IS the best way, in a street fight biting and grabbing balls are allowed... a person with a jacket and jeans on is gonna be hard to do that to. I promise.
You may have saved a person's life however nobody I've ever trained with would EVER use offensively unless it's absolutely necessary, if the person is a skilled fighter this is the best offensive defense to hold people down. Sit sideways and it's impossible for them to move. I'm not an expert and i know this from wrestling and grappling with friends. A person with little experience can use it offensively against most people. It's GROSS.
Cheers from USA! Sorry our president sucks btw!!!!!
