I've had my Pair Custom 24 (Sea Ox) for over a year now. We live in Hertford NC just on the Albemarle Sound. I recently took her across the sound to Manteo with my family with a run up the Alligator River for lunch along the way. Overall, about 100 miles round trip in one day. We had great weather in the morning on the way out and then, fought 15-20 mph winds on the way home with 2-4 wind driven chop. Let's say this, with a 350 Suzuki duo prop on the business end and her length overall all at ~28'... she road like a Cadillac. In many years of boating, including 5 yrs in the USCG... This boat inspires confidence at every turn. Pair Customs makes an incredible boat for the money... Nothing else even comes close.
Hi Jerry, I just put a dp. on a Pair, not sure which one to go with yet , but wanted to ask how your boat does off shore in the chop and do you think a deep V would be better or the mod V if I am fishing Peconic Bay Long Island sound and also want to venture out offshore maybe 20 miles for Tuna etc. ? Appreciate any feedback Tx
That's a hard question for me to answer. Do you have draft concerns? My mod v does just fine offshore, I've had it past 20 miles and will probably pass 30-40 this season. The bay is fish is shallow so I needed minimal draft. If draft wasn't a concern I would have strongly considered the deep v. The fuel economy of this beast is pretty amazing though.
