Ed wrote this from the perspective of his Mum, who lost her Mum, Ed's Grandmother ❤
I just had to look it up because it was driving me mad trying to figure out who the song is about. Apparently he wrote it for his grandmother who passed away but wrote it from the point of view of his mum.
He’s a genius for it and if u don’t cry from it u r not human

I lost my mom in late Oct of 2021 I found this song soon after. I cry every single time I listen to this song or try to sing it. Every time it takes me back to being at work and getting the call from my grandma saying my mom had a massive heart attack. 🥺😢

This is my first time seeing your reaction video and I love it. I love how thorough you are with the reaction. You guys talk about the whole thing. The music, the lyrics, the story behind it and the whole video. Like for example your point of view about the scene where Ed's performing with no audience. Spot on. Felicity is right this is written from Ed’s Mum’s perspective on losing her mom. What is strange is a fan spliced this video from footage of his Photograph video and the grandmother in this video is actually his father’s mother and she is still living.
