Besides the Pitcher Plant, which you might even see in bloom this time of year, look around right at moss level for the tiny carnivorous Sundew plant. Roundish leaves about the size of a nickel. They sparkle with sticky “dew.” Usually where you find one, you find the other!

Hawk, you were moving so fast during your rock scramble up the Chairbacks. Even accounting for your Chipmunk Hawk voice fast-forward timelapse, you were gojng really fast. I hope to see you in PA.
Another glorious day on the northern AT, I have watched you walk the southern half, but not the northern half. Beautiful! We have those pitcher plants down here where we live, and also the venus flytraps (why do they call them that?)
Day 23 (or 13th Day of hiking for #8) sees HAWK emerge from the HAWK'S NEST for a 21.1 mile mosey. . . . .it is very misty/cloudy for most of the day up and over the Chairback Mountains. . . . .along the way HAWK shows us an old plane crash @11:36 and the insect eating Pitcher Plants in the Fourth Mountain Bog. . . .eventually we do get some great views at the Barren Ledges and Slide before HAWK ends the day with several stream/river fords. . . .and for Today's HAWKISM @4:43 we have this year's first appearance of "Chipmunk HAWK", "That was Awesome!. . . . .Rock Scramble. . . .Wowza!. . . .Up, Up, Up we Go!. . . . .Made it!"

Besides Whitecap, my favorite views in the 100 mile were from Chairback looking north, Chairback #3 and Barren Ledges. Barren slide was closed😕 I did climb the Barren Mtn tower which was pretty cool. 🐿🐿🐿

The pitcher plant is actually the Provincial Flower of Newfoundland, Canada! I was pretty surprised to see them up in the Chairbacks!
