Need more info about how it was broken. Someone tried to force my truck out of park and now my gear shifter goes up and down without any type of resistance. Not sure if it is a cable or something in steering column is broken. 😢
Is the truck actually shifting gears without any resistance or is the lever swinging freely? If it’s the bracket as it is in this video, the shifter lever swings freely but you can’t shift the truck.
What makes this part break and not allow me to shift in the first place I broke it accidentally forcing to hard and I noticed it for a long time now l.? Also any length T:15 torque screwdriver will work?
Also, I’m not sure what causes it to break for others, but in my case I routinely park on hills and wasn’t using the parking break so I’d have a hard shift to get it out of park. Kept forcing it till it broke. Since then when I’m ready to park I shift to Neutral, apply parking break and release the brake pedal. Once the truck stops moving and the parking break is set, apply the brake again then shift to park. I haven’t had a hard time shifting out of park since I started doing this.
Grab what's left of the shift lever bracket with the channel locks - if it breaks in the same place mine did you should have a large enough flange to get a good grip. Push it left towards the drivers door then straight down into Reverse or Drive.
Mine just broke on my 2016 power wagon took it in the mechanic wanted $1500 to fix it found the part for $80 waiting on it to get here in the next day or two
Great video. Well done! Mine just snapped on me. 2016 dodge ram 3500. Thank you for the help 😊😊
I’ve broken this bracket and replaced it 6 times… Really should be a recall by this point. 2013 Ram 2500 Diesel
Great video. Had exactly the same problem down to the break points on the bracket. This showed me exactly what to do. Thanks!
I have a 2015 RAM 2500 Cummins Diesel. Shift Lever is extremely loose and unstable. Do I need to just replace the bracket?

Any length T15 should be fine. I think I used a 1/2” in a bit holder for this.

Good video. Fixing mine tomorrow! Thanks
Thanks for watching! Glad it was helpful.
How did you shift the gears with the pliers?
Grab what was left of the bracket and push straight toward the driver door/steering column, then up/down to select gear.
Shift cable was attach to my new one but can not line up the bracket to be bolt down. Any suggestions
Awesome instruction
Thanks for watching and glad you found it helpful!
How did you get the old one out of that yellow retainer? Im in the mud rt now 🤷🏽
Use a trim puller to remove the yellow retainer from the shift bracket and disconnect the cable further down under the dash.
How did you take the knee panel off
It has two 10mm bolts underneath.
2006 dodge 2500 won't shift the key latch is working still bound up what do I do
How did you used the truck with the tools?

Just happened to me 19 degrees out, meat too brittle? C'est La Vie. Thank you so much for putting this together.
I tried this but it still wont change gear... Is there a reason why?
Awesome. Thank you
Did you say how much that part was
It was around $45 when I bought it, but the price fluctuates. Looks like part #5057506AH is around $48 right now.
