Hello, this was actually pretty informative; thank you. Is there a way to tell on any sword's description on the KoA website whether or not it is made of good spring steel? What should we look for to tell if it's made of better alloy or spring steel, or not? Thanks again!
What people need to remember is that the steel quality of ANY of these is likely to be superior to original swords from the period, purely because technology has improves vastly, as has the understanding of metalurgy and heat treatments! What has also changed has expectation! A soldier or even a knight in the 1500s wouldn't be expecting a mirror finish on their blade, and certainly wouldn't have a mirror finish after a day training or even on the battlefield! MOST of these weapons were made to work, not to look nice, so aspects such as blade geometry are higher up the priorities list than polish on the blade. Expecation regarding price has changed since back then too! Back then your LIFE depended on your sword not failing during use, which is why people were spending the price of a house on their sword, not just a couple of hundered dollars! Some of the better known swords that have survived until now, were owned by KINGS, and as such they were the BEST available!
This is true to an extent. This does NOT mean that a cheapo replica sword is a good approximation of a middling medieval sword. It would be far better to have a period sword with period steel than to have a modern sword with good steel but built horribly. There aren’t any makers currently replicating flawed medieval swords.
Wait? You mean oft times we are paying that much for a blade with no scabbard? I haven't shopped many blades yet and I'm still on mid range so I haven't met this yet.
some years ago i've ordered a balaur 13th longsword and i'm dying for getting one of the new ones but i can't thanks to the impossible taxes and restrictions of the damn government, in 2024 that thiefs will be gone i'm sure and i will be able to buy again 😄
Yo. Y'all need to up your sharpening game. Best it's awful. You ask that people pay for sharpening but the edge you put on makes it duller than how it comes. Get better.
Good stuff! Glad to see Matt get some face time on the channel!
Absolutely - appreciate you getting him excited about sharing!
Interesting and helpful video!
Glad you think so!
Clear and concise information. Fantastic video of things I've always wondered. Terrible captions.
We want to see more of Matt!
He's doing a great job. Thanks to @Matthew_Jensen for getting him started!
This was a fabulous vid for me to share with friends I've been trying to educate.

All of our product description pages have a "tab" near the bottom that includes specifications. Steel type is always listed there!
I'd put darksword armory at the bottom with the decorative swords. Because that's all they are...wallhangers.

You put Deepeeka above decorative? :(
It might help if the site wasn’t absolute full of “out of stock” and “back ordered” items.
