See I have punch for past 1.5 yrs now, never gave an issue , a great family car. But if the competition has something more to offer , why not go for it. There is no punch vs exter here. It's just what's more suitable and practical for you. The competition forces manufacturers to bring more features, better after sales service and so on

I don't care about big car, in fact, quite the opposite. The people I know who bought the Compact "SUVs" for the sole reason of ground clearance.

As a new driver without any discomfort I was able to do long drives, particularly Highway experience was really good. There are other cars comes with better engines for sure, but TATA built quality is your insurance.

A suggestion to video editing team - since you are switching between the two cars very frequently, please insert a stamp or something on the screen which shows the car currently on display. It's been 14 months I have been driving punch and yes! it definately feels laggy in its initial pick up and doesn't feel smooth and punchy while driving in city specially during overtaking. U have to literally plan a lot before overtaking. Other cars will pass by your side while u will still be struggling to gain the pace. It is not for the driving enthusiasts. But! but! but! once u gain momentum!! Its super smooth like butter until unless u apply brakes and then again start gaining the pace. It is very stable, excellent suspension setup and comfortable for long journey
On Highway(Lucknow-Agra expressway) it gave me 24kmpl at 80km/h and 17 kmpl at 120km/h. In city it is giving 11-13 kmpl.
The more consistently u drive with light weight on accelerator the better mileage it will give. Once u start exploiting it.. it will start exploiting the petrol very harshly.

Brother companies are offering what the consumers are demanding. In India, everyone wants an SUV. If you look over the years the demand for hatchbacks and sedans has gone down considerably across all price points. Hence companies have no choice but to bring out products according to the consumer sentiments. This is what helps them sustain in the market else they will be obsolete. And obviously below a certain pricing you won’t get the real deal.

    "The main reason people buy
SUV in India is of course Ground
    clearance.
I myself drive a Tiago, which
    is a hatchback.
But recently I got to drive
a Harrier which is a really good
    SUV and also Maruti S-presso.
    So two completely different segments
    cars.
But one common thing I noticed is
very low road noise in both car cabins.
That is due to the big gap between
    wheel and the wheel arches.
All hatchback and sedan owners know
    how irritating road noise becomes
on long journeys due to the tire being in
very close proximity to the body of
    the car.
    The constant road noise
    makes your brain tired.
    Journey becomes less enjoyable because
    of this.
I will upgrade to a SUV because of only
one reason and that is a less noisy cabin."

I took punch on rent for a trip from Pune to mahabhaleshwar, it was a decent car, I liked everything except the engine, I felt more vibrations on accelerator than my 1.3 mjd ciaz and it can't even be compared to my 1.2 Baleno. Engine was slow and I it was really scary when I was pushing it and taking corners in the hilly region (guess I am not used to driving SUVs at all, I am still a sedan guy), I also hated its speaker quality but everything else was decent, better interior quality than my ciaz.
