- While visiting Tommy's Aunt Ada at Sunny Ridge Nursing Home, Tuppence encounters some odd residents including Mrs. Lancaster who mystifies her with talk about "your poor child" and "something behind the fireplace".
When Aunt Ada dies a few weeks later, she leaves Tommy and Tuppence a painting featuring a house, which Tuppence is sure she has seen before. This realization leads her on a dangerous adventure involving a missing tombstone, diamond smuggling and a horrible discovery of what Mrs. Lancaster was talking about.

Can you fix the audio?
Narrator Alex Jennings is a gorgeous-voiced actor from The Crown, The Queen, Wings of a Dove and numerous Agatha Christie, Morse and Lewis episodes. Monstrously talented … and still going strong. Huge fan!
I love the narrator's voice. The sound seems fine.
Thank you. Done well i kept 'rewinding' every time I fell asleep
“By the Pricking of my thumbs something wicked this way comes” is spoken by the second witch in Shakespeare’s Macbeth. Act 4 Scene 1 famous for the 3 witches stirring the cauldron.
Thank you 😊
You are most welcome! This & the other “Tommy & Tuppance” spy stories, etc. by Agatha Christie are some of my favorite stories of hers. I started reading Ms. Christie’s shorter books & stories when I was between 9& 12. Recently I turned 78 & realized that I was now old enough to one of Miss Marple’s “Old Pussies”
Thanks for your thoughtful Thank You note!
Another novel title from this line: "Something Wicked This Way Comes" by Ray Bradbury.💐
The last line was great. I love the rare book that ends well. Good story. Thank you
Excellent narration, rivals Hugh Fraser
Love the narrator. I also had issues with the sound. The narrator dropped to almost a whisper for some of the character's voices. Still, most excellent! Thank you.
This is excellent! Thank you.
I love coming across A.C. books that are not read by Hugh Fraser. This narrator is wonderful.
I’ve tried to listen to Tommy and Tuppence before but haven’t enjoyed them. This is a fabulous voice actor and I really enjoyed this rendition
You can find a clearer recording by Googling the title 😊
Loved it. Not heard this one before.
Hi yes sound comes and goes..but think he has a very good voice. Thank you enjoy the books by Agatha Christie..❤
Fantastic narrator. Great story. Thank you
Is it David Suchet? I'm editing my original comment...no, it was Alex Jennings. He was identified at the end.
4:57:14 Tommy was very slow on the uptake upon hearing this news. He dithers on about pointless things instead of making up his mind to follow up the clue.
The should drifts in and out
i found the sound to be fine
interesting the difference between the book and the movie…some better, some not
A truly great who dun it by the mistress of suspense
Superb in every way. Bravo.
The volume of the sound goes in and out. Can it be fixed?
Wonderful✨
Missed bits throughout, as sound fluctuates between audible + very low!
Sometimes sounds as if the microphone was being waved about!
Wish the audio was better quality...
I tried slowing down the sound but still too difficult to follow. Will try a different book and narrator.
The sound was fine
Not to be mean but the sound, fading in and out...
Agreed,I thought it was me.. 😏
@@joprent6727 ~ I use these to go to sleep but found I was turning this up and down.. defeated the purpose. Thought I was going mad!
It is disconcerting and annoying.
Exceptionally poor quality, must be from the original style of audiobooks which were on a cassette player. (Gen z, look it up on Google)
Yep, I can’t listen.
Great narrator.
Sound is better when listened through the TV
The sound is pretty good on my phone.
Very clever but I missed the point of the title, would someone please explain
Quote from Macbeth, "By the pricking of my thumbs, something wicked this way comes". One of the witches says it about Macbeth.
Thanks so much for your reply. I never got on very well with Shakespeare at school many years ago but have enjoyed some live performances but have never seen Hamlet.
The first time in my life I have been disappointed with Miss Christy . Albert's character is at odds with with the early books what a shame
Luf it 😁✨
I don't know if he keeps moving away from the microphone or keeps changes the volume of his voice. But I can't hear all of the words.
No audiobook publisher would release a recording like that. IMHO this was caused by transferring the sound from LPs to a computer. (It says Side 1, Side 2, Side 3... which means it was recorded on LPs.) Or the LPs or the gramophone might have been faulty.
Fix the sound and then I may donate.
Tommy & Tuppence.
I had a cat named tuppence.
Hard work listening with the volume fading in and out. Can’t you keep it level? I’m giving up at 8 minutes in. Sorry.
Recorded voice is messed up. Should consider re-recording.
A better version:

Yes, thank you!
oh so much better, thank you so much!
What is with the adds 🎉
I am having a hard time understanding the narrator who seems to mumble a lot😢
4:29:34
Far too much waffle in this story, but I still hung in there till the bitter end.
The version read by Hugh Fraser is far superior. This narrator has a monotonous voice with no animation whatsoever.
Lord, I skways thought I was a bit hypercritical and am now thinking better if myself after reading the whiners on these comments. Thanks !
Sound is terrible
Awful audio. Volume keeps changing.
I couldn't listen - the sound fading in and out is too annoying.
Said"" said "" said"". Think of a more interesting way a y for us to spend our time. We are not so stupid that we can't figuwhobis speakung.
