    The late 90s 7 series BMW was one of my favorites, 20 something years later it still looks amazing

    More than enough computer power send a rocket to space. 20 years on lol... Still love this generation.

    A heated steering wheel and backup sensors?! These features are now available on a $30,000 Dodge Charger, but were unheard of when the E38 BMW 7-Series was new. It's amazing how far technology has come in cars.

    • @gtarules1
      @gtarules1 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      They're standard in modern 7s. Heated steering wheel, though, may be a package option.

      I just googled it and BMW 750IL was £70000 in 1999 so it was a very expensive car then.

      They were quite a rare option back in the day... Nowadays they are available in some mid to low range cars...

      parking sensors were standard on V12 E38s and optional on the rest.
      -reclining rear seats, power rear headrests, rear lumbar support, heated rear seats
      -window shades, quarter window shades, and rear power window shade
      -dual pane windows
      -16 way adjustable front seats
      -electronic damping control with sport mode
      -self leveling rear suspension
      -navigation, traffic monitor, telephone, hands free, 14 speakers with dynamic sound processing
      -self leveling xenon headlamps with heated washer sprayers
      -power folding and heated mirrors
      -3 zone climate control, optional fully independent rear blower with digital control
      -rear vanity mirrors optional, rear wooden tables with coasters optional
      -rear swivel tables optional
      -rear armest with radio controls, front passenger seat controls, rear power shade control, full onboard computer, and secondary telephone handset also optional
      and you could custom order special requests for options and fully customize interior color scheme, upholstery, and exterior paint scheme with BMW Individual program (for everyone except North American market unless you had connections)

      Bmw e32 7 series had parking sensors as an option back in 1988

    1997 model. Arguably the best looking 7-series ever made. Though 326bhp from a V12 sounds very pedestrian today!

    Nice review and the M Sport pack makes a great car complete I am a fan of James Bond as well and would love maybe a 728i or a 735i Sport in a few years time

    Bond actually drove a 740. Black ones with black interiors and dark tinted windows are the best. Like he says, they're enjoyable, except the steering is pretty dead imo.

    • @supra1722
      @supra1722 8 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      dead compared to smaller BMWs, not compared to other executive saloons.

      my 750 feels great for a big car, but i can feel its weight when driving around town after driving a 528 or something smaller. the 750 is much more nimble than an LS or XJ or an S class of the era

      Nope, it was a rebadged 740: www.imcdb.org/vehicle_1869-BMW-750iL-E38-1997.html, bamfstyle.com/2014/11/12/tnd-4-charcoalsuit-bmw/
      Wikipedia: "The 750iL (actually a re-badged 740iL) is extensively featured in the high grossing James Bond series film Tomorrow Never Dies."

    wow, a v12 that makes 320 horse power. it only took a little less than 20 years for their current 760 to make 600, or then m5 twin turbo v8 makes 600 as well

    • @tjallaballa
      @tjallaballa 6 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      This car was made to be incredibly smooth, not incredibly fast. Even then the m70 wasn't their most powerful engine. The M5 had 315hp in 1988 from a 3.4 liter i6 ;)

    • @captainhindsight8604

    Just seeing this its very funny. Love this car have one for 15 years now. One thing I dont understand is why he toke the code name OO3 and half. If you want to impress the ladys wouldnt you want to go higher like OO9 and a half. Now that would drive the lady's crazy. I know, I use it all the time.

      Really? I have a Boston green E36 328i and always get positive comments about its colour. At night it looks black, in the sun it looks blue/green. I think it's one of the best old school BMW colours.
