I am in a retro cheapskate phase and have a D7000 arriving tomorrow that was purchased from MPB. One thing to realize is the dynamic range of this camera rivals many newer, more expensive cameras like the D500 and D7500. And for $200 US in ex condition. Plenty of resolution to make beautiful 11x14’s.
I love the camera. This and the D90 turned me into a famous photographer (artist name) all over the world. I even received recognition for the beauty of a video that I shot with this camera with just a basic 50mm. This camera responds.
I picked up a D7000 back in 2015 when I first got into photography. Back then it was pretty new and reflected that in the price. If I were to recommend a camera to a new photographer these days I would definitely steer them in the direction of a D7000. It's a great camera, especially at the prices they're going for right now. I've since picked up a D850, but I still keep my D7000 around because it's still awesome.
@@CarmineTavernaPhotography Couldn't agree more. My plan with the D850 was to pass on my D7000 to a young new shooter. But I couldn't bring myself to let her go and ended up buying her a D7000 from KEH.
This is the video that earned my sub. I have a D7000 and now, thanks to you, I have the 70-210 f4 to go with it. It just arrived today, so I haven’t had a lot of time with it, but that is one sweet lens. Thanks for reviewing “older” equipment for those of us that don’t have huge budgets to support our addiction, er, hobby. I’ve enjoyed watching several of your previous videos, keep up the great work!
I've been using D7000's since they came out; about 13 years. The biggest change to give the model new life is....software! The ability to DeNoise, and AI Sharpen really help this aging model. I shoot everything...studio, on-location: People-Places-Products, and IF shooting below 1600 ISO, you'll get good stuff. And if you shoot RAW, and change from 8 to 16-bit, export as a TIFF or DNEG....the QUALITY is really, really good. And I cheat using many FX lenses on a DX body purposefully....altering my POV/focal lengths. The camera offers some serious bells/whistles....for cheap. I use (3) bodies concurrently. Over the years, three have died on me....nowhere near shutter limits, like less than 40k ea.
Long time ago I had the Nikon D7000 and it was a joy to use. Sold it and swiched over to Fujifilm X-cameras (X-E1 and X-Pro1) but recently got a bargin D7000 + 18-140 lens so now I'm partly a Nikon shooter. Will get some more lenses since they are soo cheap compared to Fujinon lenses. Can't really see the point of having more than 16 MP cameras since I do not print any larger than A3-size.
Great video, thanks! I have a D7000 from 2010, and still enjoy it, though haven't always been happy with sharpness in my landscape enlargements. How large a print should I expect to get from the D7000 and lens combo you featured in your video? Thank you!
Hey Carmine! Would you say the D7000 delievers a similar picture with its depth of field as I get from a Full Frame? I want to know if there is difference.. When I shoot with my 6D there is wow factor because the subject is highlighted from the background (not only due to lens.. ;) ) Thank you so much!
Benefits of full-frame compared to APS-C As a general rule, especially at wider apertures (lower f-numbers), full-frame cameras can produce a narrower depth of field than APS-C cameras, meaning that a smaller part of the image is in sharp focus and more of the background is blurred.
So after shooting with pentax for years, I have become very interested in Nikon. I do a ton of street photography. Which would you think would be a better camera for me, a Nikon D700 or a Nikon D7000?? Why?
Thanks for watching my channel...I would say first, both cameras are wonderful, but the D700 is my full frame favorite for great photography at a good used camera price.
Thank you for the video. I have had my D7000 for 13 years, and it has its place between the D850 and Z6II. Yes, it is an APS-C, but it's fast with the proper lens (like every camera). It's funny that ALL my Nikon cameras (except for the Z50) use the same battery, which is an advantage.
Carmine, what are your thoughts using a zoom like the 70-210, minus the vr? Also, do you feel the latest model for dslr, the 70-200 2.8e fl ed, is worth the money? Thanks, very much.
Carmine thank you for your very educative videos. I recently bought a Nikon D7000 in really dirty condition with the same problem, the live view switch blocked. Have you found a solution, other than cleaning with isopropyl alcohol? I have not done anything so far. Thanks again!!!👍🏻
Hello and thank you for watching my channel..no I haven't tried to repair the live view switch. In my experience I most likely would make things worse 😆 🤣
I thought i could use it at higher ISO, I am not sure why but eventually the details get lost quickly when there is not so much light shooting at iso 1600 and higher; use a good flash i would advise. Compared to D700, there is no competition , D700 does everything better
Great video as always, but I'll defend the 70-210mm f4-5.6. It's a better lens than most of what is made today, and the D version focuses super fast. For general purpose I also like the f4 much more, though - to add that 70-210mm f/4 is just an amazing lens
Carmine…really liked the video, both informative and full of great information. If you don’t mind I have one question. Do I have to make any camera adjustments to my D7000 to use the 70-210 f4 constant lense, such as switching to manual? Many thanks!

Excellent video !!!! I am considering this D7000 from MPB. However, I'd like to ask for some advice please. Also considering a D200 or the non weather sealed D80 version as both have less mega pixels, but have the CCD sensor. I have a cheap 6mp Kodak point and shoot camera with the CCD sensor and it takes surprisingly good pictures. I am leaning toward the D7000 as it has live view, 16 mp vs 10, a higher ISO range etc.. Thoughts between the D200, D80 or D7000 ? Which one would you pick if price was not a concern ?
Great question. I honestly would go with the D7000. Because all metal body and 2 card slots &16mp of awesomeness :) PS..mpb.com is a good choice, 6-month warranty and free shipping.
