- Oil Life Reset Ford Focus 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019. 2020. 2021, 2022, Maybe other Ford vehicles will reset with these steps.
Here are the basic steps.
1. With car in park turn key fully on but do not start engine.
2. Press gas pedal to floor and press brake pedal and hold.
3. in a few seconds the digital readout will switch to service mode and then oil reset will begin.
4. Continue to hold until the screen says "Oil Reset Complete"... You can turn off the ignition now as the system has been reset.
I come to this video every-6 months because I forget how to reset it lol

Thanks for this. Idk why you can’t just reset the oil life from the menu. Shit has to be like entering a PlayStation cheat code that you’d never figure out without a guide.
The car companies want you to do your oil changes at their shops and so they make things difficult enough so that some folks will feel it necessary to go back to the dealership. That is where they make the bulk of their money in parts and services.
Up, down, up, down, left, right, right, X, X, O, O.
Funny enough, the 2012ish Nissan Pathfinder is extremely simple as it can be done on the main computer, so yeah. I don’t understand either. I guess they just don’t want it to be abused

I did as you instructed, but the light stayed on. Then I pressed both brake and gas at the same time. Same thing. So I tried the brake then the gas and that worked for a 2012 Focus.

Thankfully, the car will cycle the throttle at about 3500 RPM if you floor it in park. lol

Had to find this video again cuz everyone else says gas and brake at the same time. Made sure to save it this time. You are a lifesaver. Didn't need to turn off my oil change warning this time, but the miles left to go number has been acting oddly since it came out of the shop. I thought maybe there was a leak but I didn't drive for a week because of COVID and there was no problem. My mpg average has seemed fine, so hopefully a general reset will do the trick.

My wife's car doesn't have an ignition and has a start stop button. For that type just short press the button and it's like the ignition is on but not the car, then proceed with flooring the gas pedal then the break same as in the video.

Great tip Andy. I never would have guessed that with the pedals.
Some other Ford models reset the oil life through a press and hold button on the dash. This reset, once you know how to do it, is easier than the scroll through menu of other models to reset the oil life. Thanks for the view old pal :)
so simple! During the last months I could not get rid of this issue. The guides all said, kick gas and brake at the same time. But as you said it is first gas and then brake. Worked out just a few minutes ago - Thank you :)!!!

Thank you so much!! My sons car has had this annoying message on for at least 2 months it was so annoying!! Worked in a flash! Will teach him to get oil change done before it comes on next time.
I think he should only change his oil as the computer says so this warning is perfect for allowing you to use your oil and filter to the maximum safe range. This warning is just letting you know that within the next week or so you should plan an oil and filter change. that way, you can have it done at your convenience and still be assured that the oil is not totally bad and not lubricating the engine properly. The video I made is just a quick process to clear and reset the oil change warning until the next oil change is necessary. Thanks for watching my video and God bless you.
