Great tips Donn, collecting these kits in their original boxes for future projects ties up a bit of real estate, cheers from Nova Scotia...

I totally agree with you, it is a huge part of modeling! I started selling off kits because I no longer had room to store them. The boxes were starting to collapse as they were stacked 10 high in some instances. I’m not a collector, I build, and most of my builds are Kit bashed, I’ve combined as many as three kits to build one model. What your saying make complete sense to me, something I had not realized was the overwhelming feeling of chaos in my modeling room was killing my creativity. Thanks for sharing this.

When you first started talking about putting them in bags,I thought I would hate the idea. However, this makes a whole lot of sense. 🤟🤠👍

Good advice to hear. Baggies have been a savior of mine for years, especially decals (Parchment or wax paper wrapped before the baggie) and storing the tires and clear parts separately. Ziplocs are a hobby saver! Love your channel as always!

I do similar to what your saying. Though I might suggest putting tires and clear pieces in small plastic bags if they’re gonna be stored with the kit. Ive purchased some older kits hear the tires have scared the plastic parts.

Zip lock bags are just as important in the model building as any other tool. Great video Donn will be watching for the next if you do one. Have a great weekend buddy. Terry

I find this approach works very well, especially as I like to build 1/25 trucks and routinely combine parts from multiple kits. Those truck and trailer kit boxes take up a lot of space!

Been doing the baggies thing for years with kits from all genres. I usually add the box top or side in the bag also especially if I want to reference colors. Takes up no extra space. Thanks

For alot of people they just need to see a wall of kits stacked up wether they be just a builder or a collector.
I personally only keep the kits that haven't been molested in the original box and as I open and rob parts or just build the kit... I cut out the front of the box art and I keep them all In binder.

Thanks. It's cool to look back at the box art sometimes.

Cut the pieces off the sprues in a way that the part number is still with the part (e.g. the engine block with a few millimeters of sprue attached to it with the number "17" visible).
Put these in the zip-bags, throw in a piece of paper with the model/sub-assembly data (e.g. Revell Golf GTI mk 1 engine) on it and you're good.

Hello 😊 Mr prof. Have a question about decals. Never try before. After laying decals, can I just spray white a clear cut over the decals? Its a F1 from NSR , Its a long time I was in the hobby, over 50 years, but its to late. Please reply. Best regards Knut
