I’m an absolute newbie (at 68) … this was really straightforward and helpful … thank you!
A piece that only Dewalt or someone uses that only they use is "proprietary" not priority. 😁Love your videos! I've been scrolling for 20 years and always love learning more
With a scroll saw, some tracing paper and a few carefully selected drawings marquetry becomes an avenue of pure artistic joy. Began using a scroll saw nearly thirty-five years ago and have been rewarded beyond compare.
Nice to hear Brian. Thank you for watching!
What a great beginner video! Thanks GWW’s.
Very informative, I actually took some notes, especially your 3 P's: "If I buy a better scroll saw ... then my work will be better" Substitute lathe, cutter , table saw, or any other tool, etc. for scroll saw and your message still works. It takes Persistence, Patience, and practice will make you better.
True, but then you see a video of some guy somewhere with nothing more than a nail and a hammer (for example, ) producing miracles...
Awesome video, very informative.
Oh my goodness, THANK YOU so much for the blade advice. I've been using blades from our local tool shop and wondering why everything I make looks like I cut it with a chainsaw. I got hold of some size 7 PGT skip reverse tooth blades, and WOW what a difference. I'm not crappy at scroll sawing, my blades were!
Thank you so much, most helful to this learner.
when i scroll saw it gives me a nostasglic feeling of my vavoa on her sewing machine, i think its why i fell in love with mine.
When cutting picture puzzles is the piece picture up or down
Thank You!
thanks Brian but what is marquetry ? is it a good selection photo's or drawings? or a certain way to cut?
Nice show. Picked up a few things.
Good stuff and entertaining too. JimE
Always informative. Any way your group could get someone to do an intarsia video?
I do not own a scroll saw, nor have I ever used one.
I watched the video because I was thinking this would be a good way to make templates for my router projects.
Great information! I love this format!
Great lecture. Thanks so much for devoting your time to teach other..... I have a question that you may want to help me: I do own a DeWalt 788 and operate it with a dead man pedal switch. I have notice that from time to time the scroller loses power when I push the pedal. I check the power outlet and it is fine. Please advice if this is because the pedal I am using, a Billy foot swicht pedal 15 amps. or is because I should change the switch for any other brand. I would appreciate to have your expert advice. Thanks again.
+Braulio Perez Hi there! This is a follow up text on my question. I have to correct that is not the Billy foot swich pedal the problem but the on-off power switch of the scroller. Seems the switch is the weak point of the DeWalt 788. Is there any durable replacement available or mofification could be made? Thanks again.
+Braulio Perez The switch on the 788 is a weak point. I use the switch without a dead man or other external switch. I'm on my third switch! If you are using the external dead man switch you could remove the switch and use a jumper across the terminals. The switch is around $17.00 to replace and there is not a ready made replacement for the Dewalt switch.
Thanks so much Rob. You are absolutly right. I already bought a couple of extra switches for spare. Also, I notice that the rheostat or variable speed switch is neither a high quality item. Let's hope for better quality parts in the near future.
Whose is the author of the scroll saw book?
what is marketer cutting ?
Lads?
I have a "100usd" scroll saw. a 85w. `
I moddified it, to take pinless put nice skf bearings in it and lighten the paralelogram....
I use proxxon blades 25 18 and 14 dpi
Made jigs.
I'm trying to cut "half laps" into 25/30mm x 3/5mm hard woods.
The damn thing just don't want to, I need to push the wood with all the might. and still barely do it it does not jamm it just does not "bite" the damn wood
I bought it to save some time (so it takes me a good 2 days to cut 8 cuts/ a single frame) the blades are "made in germany" even the saw is, any ideas? is the saw junk the blades ... me ?:))
Super video! Learned a lot - thank you. But your idea about copyright and pictures was not correct. When you buy a picture you are not paying for unlimited commercial use. You can display that picture in one place at a time. Copying it is illegal, as is selling something with that picture on it, UNLESS you have prior written permission from the copyright owner..
I know reverse cut blade, have tried using on half inch and Hans likes using a #5 but blades bend when doing anything o thick blade bend and snaps wrong bade?
What was Hans saying about selling his stuff? Something like If you are buying something from me, you are buying hours of practice, hour of ......?
Great video, but....
(spiral blade).......?
You didn't show an image of that, so I must go look it up.
Different types of scroll saw art.
That too.... I must look up.
Because you chose not to show an (image or images) of that said art.
found mine at ollies for three bucks the scroll saw work book
Wow
