I am so mad that your video was so low in the feed because I watched so many useless videos before i got to yours because you had hands down the best overview video of the functions of the scope, great work! Thank you, helped me a lot. Also am i the only one thats mad that i couldn't find a manual for this scope? Please let me know if anyone has one.
I've had the MSO-5102D for I think 3 years, and I do like the scope. The rotating controls are all rotary encoders, and some of mine became so jittery as to be unusable, particularly the V0 knob. I pulled it apart (very simple) and I sprayed into each encoder casing, and down the shaft, with electrical clean and lube spray. This fixed the issue.
Thanks for posting a clear explanation of this scopes functions! I ordered one from Banggood a few weeks ago and it should arrive soon. Can't wait to get some vintage audio gear up and running again after sitting in a closet for thirty+ years!
I want to thank you for your overview of the Hantek DSO5102P. I'm into retro-computing and am always needing to troubleshoot/repair something. I've often reached the extent of what I can do with a multi-meter and have been wanting to pickup an oscilloscope. Keep in mind that this isn't a tool I'll be using every day. Heck, I've made it the past thirty years without having one, but I have wanted one, and I'm certain there are times I would've had a much easier time of it if I'd had one. I've had several scope snobs telling me how bad the Hantek units seem and complaining about their lack of features and trying to steer me towards Rigol. While I'm certain the Rigol units are excellent, their low end is around $120 more than what I can get the DSO5102P for, and that's for a 50MHz unit. For my needs and what I'll use a scope for, I think the DSO5102P will more than meet my needs. It looks like an awesome starter/hobbyist scope. I think you've helped me make my decision. Thanks again!
I've had this model scope for about 2 years now and it has its problems though. It occasionally "randomly" reboots itself. The AC / DC input coupling stopped working on one occasion. It fixed itself after a reboot. The triggering malfunctioned but it also fixed itself after a reset using the autoset button. One of the backlight buttons stopped "backlighting" after a week and one of the probes had to be replaced due to a faulty connection. Maybe Hantek has sorted out their problems. There are a couple of other reviews on this model of scope and I would suggest that anyone thinking of buying this scope watch them. My evaluation after 2 years is at best not bad.

I am trying to see an intermittent signal (such as me touching and untouching a test point) and can't figure out how to do it. I want the scope to show 0v as a line across the screen, but when i very briefly tap the oscope probe to 12v, it shows the jump and then goes back to showing the 0v line when not touching. I want to see a jump that remains after my brief touch is not touching anymore. So like if I touch 12v 5 times in 10 seconds, i will see the 0v line interrupted by 5 brief 12v spikes. But I have tried for what seems like an eternity of trigger options, run/stop,auto set, normal set (auto set turned off), sec/div, and I don't remember what else. No luck. I can get it set so the line jumps to 12v, but as soon as I disconnect it, the line goes back to 0v. No history. Can someone explain to me how to do this. I have a 2 channel DOS (Hantek DSO5072P).
Easy... On the Horizontal control area, rotate the lower knob (sec/Div) counterclockwise till you see 800ms on the top right of the screen. Now it will take 10 seconds or so for the trace to get from left to right. Tap away!

Upgrade it I did mine in about 30 minuets I went from 100 to 200mhz. If you have the 70mhz scope then there’s 2 small capacitors you have to remove because they physically limit the bandwidth. The 100mhz all you do is change a couple of things with a UART and then you have a 200mhz scope for a lower price. Original I was gonna get the 70mhz because I thought it would be cheaper. I got a 100mhz for $212 delivered. It’s an awesome scope especially for the price. Still love my old Tek 2232 which it’s a dso/ analog, but I have never used any of the functions for the storage. Too aggravating. I think anyone that’s into electronics and scopes need to buy a working crt analog scope to add to your test gear. There’s some things I like doing better on my analog scope. But there’s a lot more the digital does. I bought my crt scope a few years ago on eBay $40 2ch Tektronix 2232 scope. Shipping was $40. I mean $80 and you have a quality piece of gear.
Since 2017 or 2018 they directly cmoe in 200 MHz version if you buy the 100 MHz. All you need to do is upgrade firmware to lastest 2019 versoin and replace the two PP-150 probes with PP-200 MHz probes or two 200 MHz certified probes.
@@gilbertfernandes8320 It's wrong. I received my DSO5102P on February 18, 2019. On March 4, I upgraded to the January 25, 2019 version. I tested with frequencies from 100MHz to 150MHz before and after the update. firmware, nothing has changed. So it's wrong to say that the new update will unlock the oscilloscope at 200MHz.

No issue. I use a 4 Gb USB key (old one) formated to FAT32 with 4 Kb sectors. The scope runs Linux so any key that works on Linux should work, test it on Linux first. I can save both waveforms to recall them later, and screenshots.

The real clincher is that you can mod this scope up to 200mhz real easy.
How do you switch to a square wave view while looking at a sine wave with FFT?
Is the 100MHz flavor sufficient for the typical hamshack, or would the 200MHz version be more useful? Cheers! Chris - NI7I
100mhz is fine for the radio shack... and remember, you can modify ANY of the Hantek scopes for 200 mhz operation. (google it)
