Ok yall. Here's MY colour analysis. Gerald looks like a soft summer. He has medium contrast (from tan/olive skin + dark hair), is cooler in skin tone (THIS I'm not sure), and is muted (skin looks more grey than either pink/red). Looking at the colour swatches, the brighter red shade, the light grey and light green looks far more fitting than any of the "spring" shades she recommends, which either wash him out or are too bright for him (look at what colours reduce his eyebags). Furthermore, springs tend to look good in florals & prints -- Gerald is someone who suits full colours in both vibe and appearance. What stumbles me here is whether he is warmer or cooler in skin tone -- this I'll leave up to u guys. He looks good in silver BECAUSE of its lower saturation (remember, muted autumn/summer). Gold is not only warm but HIGHLY saturated, and is thus not a good basis for comparison of cool/warm skin tones. Cream VS white is much more similar in saturation, and to me he pulls off both equally (personal opinion is that cream makes his grey tones stand out, so I prefer white on him. But I'm not the one seeing him everyday. So.) To me preferences are usually HUGE early indicators of your season. As others have pointed out, it's also strange how both of you "happen" to be springs yet neither of your colour palettes really even match either of you 75%. I'm not a professional, but this could be her overcorrecting for olive skin tones and/or a little personal bias seeping in. Lastly, remember that colour seasons are not the be-all end-all of fashion -- you can wear shades that are not your season but create aesthetic harmony with the rest of your outfit. Good luck! ❤
Yeah, that's what I'm saying. She would know that if she took him into a room with good lighting or outside. She was just choosing colors she likes bc there's no way he's a true spring.

Nahh i’ll pass. I will wear whatever color that ‘I’ love on me. Not gonna change my color palette and def not gonna ignore my fav colors just coz some ‘consultant’ said no to it. Lmao
nobody’s forcing you to, though?? it’s to find out which colours flatter you, you can still wear what you want, it’s a recommendation. bangs suit some face shapes better than others, that’s a fact, doesn’t mean you can’t get bangs even if your face shape isn’t considered one of them. my hairdresser advised me against bangs a couple years back when i wanted them, i got them anyways. looked great on me. it’s not an end-all-be-all, it’s a suggestion. i’m lucky that my favourite colours/shades suit me well! i did an app version of this consultation, which isn’t as accurate but is also free. i could find out what suits me and if it’s what i like? cool. if it’s colours i don’t like? oh well, i’ll wear the things that bring me joy instead.

black and most dark colours make me look washed out. doesn’t help that i have RSF (resting sad face lol), if i wear black, i often get asked if i’m upset or feeling okay because i look down 🤷♀️ though, i guess it also depends on how dressed up i am, since i’ve gotten compliments on the street wearing all black/black and white outfits before. i think styling also matters. if you’re dressed down in your best colours, you’ll pop either way. if you’re dressed up in a flattering and stylish outfit, i don’t think the colours matter as much.
@newbeeify It’s based on color theory, so technically not everyone looks “flattered” or their best in black, same with any other color. But that doesn’t mean that black or any another color in question looks horrible either on a given person either, nor does it mean that people can’t or shouldn’t wear it. People can wear what they want, and they will. Even still, based on color theory, we all fall into color “seasons” where we have a range of colors and depth of colors that flatters us the most. It’s not meant to be restrictive but rather informative. For example, learning my best colors explained to me me why black hair doesn’t suit me that much. But my mom actually looks amazing in black hair, because she has a different skin undertone and a different chroma (saturation) in her skin. So yeah the saying “everyone looks good in black” isn’t really true like we’ve always been told. But wear whatever you’d like, obviously.
black brings out my bags and j makes me look so emo 😞 i only wear black for nights out since it looks classy and there’s no daylight to show that it’s not my color
i honestly don't understand why people do this. why does it matter that some person doesn't like a color on you? as long as you're confident and comfortable you should wear it. can't believe you're actually encouraging this smh
It’s not supposed to be so biased. It is the totally wrong lighting for it. It should be done in daylight or near a window with consistent background lighting temperature. Then it shows you what colours best bring out your eyes and skin tone. As opposed to drowning them out or making you look sallow. It can make a huge difference for some people. Others can really wear anything.
People place WAY too much value in these consultations…. You should by absolutely no means ONLY dress in complimentary colors because someone told you that you look “bad” in others… in two years when everyone gets bored of wearing the same colors all the time, it will suddenly be “cool” to wear contrasting colors… just wear what you want and please don’t limit yourself, because even these people aren’t actually “experts”, and they mask that fact by exuding over-confidence to make you think they know what they’re talking about…. This girl literally told him he looks bad in BLACK….
Yes bc black drained the color from his face and increased the shadows which made him look hollow. It’s color theory. It’s like finding a cool shirt but you don’t know which color to get. This helps you find which colors will flatter your undertones
“Black looks like you work a 9-5 plus graveyard shift and you have four kids at home and you’re also caring for like your parents on the side and you’re working like 12 part time jobs” 💀
At some point in the beginning, she was rude. She is not your friend, but a professional hair stylist so she has no right to give reviews like that so 'casually'
... but she did that to give weight to how much she dislikes some over others like if he has a black tee and a green tee or no backup... she wants him to know to choose the green one
@@YoungJay5597 EXACTLY! Like, ok. Color theory is something that EVERYONE notices, but not everyone UNDERSTANDS. So it makes PERFECT sense to get really evocative about your comparisons and drive the point home. He would look great in a blue suit, but a black suit makes him look drained and tired (like a married man taking care of his parents, by working 12 different jobs) It really drives home the point to people who don't normally consider that, by giving them imagery they can grasp onto.
Different cultures have different standards of beauty though. Idk exactly where this girl is from, but being pale is the beauty ideal in many asian countries. In East Asia, tan skin is associated with the lower-class and manual labor, and is generally considered unattractive. People intentionally wear makeup to look pale, and avoid tanning at all costs over here.
R u kidding? That color suits her SO WELL. Her face looks so vibrant, the pink in her face is glowing. I love how it really lets her face do all... you don't even look at the sweater at first, because her face is the main theme😂❤
She's doing a color analysis as well as offering a service. She should be wearing nudes or neutrals so she's not the focus. Keep in mind he's looking in a mirror so she doesn't need anything that will detract a client's focus. Sort of like how people that develop perfumes don't wear fragrances to work. Or how wedding retailers have employees stick to the absolute basics.
Knowing personal color is not a bad thing at all, it can make you appear different depending on the color you wear. You can easily look sick if you wear clothes that are the opposite of what you’re suggested to use. Not just clothes but also for hair dyed and makeup. Having these analysis are actually really helpful for people who have issues with the color of the clothes that they’re wearing. You can ofc choose to still wear black even if you suit white more, but it all goes back to your choices.
Okay but she is supposed to surround him in white to isolate his coloring, which is why he is in the cape and bonnet. Then she keeps standing behind him wearing that beige sweater!

@@nikitatavernitilitvynova you thought you were warm tone but you’re actually cool tone. same with the guy in the video. he thought he was cool tone but she typed him a warm tone. Winter and Summer are Cool, Spring and Autumn are Warm. i don’t think she typed him correctly at all. i think Carol Brailey would have a different result for him based on what i’ve seen from her videos. also another easy tip i learned is that if your natural lips are more salmon in color you’re more likely a warm season. if your lip color is naturally make mauvey then you’re more likely a cool season. best way i proved this was on myself. i tried makeupbymario Anne lipstick on me which was orangey and i looked straight clown. there was a disconnect from the color to my skin. but pink and purple looked so much better and more natural on me. i am neutral and a winter. best lip product has been Nars Vence which is described as a neutral cinnamon. and my holy grail Charlotte Timbury pillow talk liner in shade Medium and pillow talk lustre gloss.
So.)
To me preferences are usually HUGE early indicators of your season.
She was just choosing colors she likes bc there's no way he's a true spring.

if you’re dressed down in your best colours, you’ll pop either way. if you’re dressed up in a flattering and stylish outfit, i don’t think the colours matter as much.
