- A majority of Canadians - 69 per cent - feel Prime Minister Justin Trudeau should resign in 2024, according to a new poll done exclusively for Global News.
The reasons for wanting Trudeau to step back, however, differ depending on who you ask.
“There’s people that are thinking that, you know, any change is a good change. And then there’s another group of people who are saying, in order to position the Liberal Party for the next election because I can’t vote for Poilievre and I can’t vote for Singh, I need another option on the Liberal bench,” explains Ipsos Public Affairs CEO Darrell Bricker.
Almost as many people said they don’t expect the prime minister will relinquish his role as head of the Liberal party.
Global’s Abigail Bimman reports on the numbers, and what it means for the Liberal party.

This is just a reflection on Trudeau, not Canadians changing stripes. People literally had to be starving to death and living on the streets before polling changed. All this mess was all predicted 3 years ago, or at least last election in 2021 when pundits, critics and literally the opposition painted this exact picture of where Trudeau was taking us.
All these problems have clearly been mounting and growing the last few years and nobody saw it as a good enough imperative to change. Nobody saw the rising prices of the last few years as an issue until they literally just couldn’t afford it.
Canada has become the world’s bastion of progressive elitism and our culture drastically needs an overhaul. The middle and lower class are suffering and it’s clearly from policy that is “left” of centre. But nobody saw that as reason to change until we were at a literal breaking point.

My riding is a Conservative stronghold so I do not need to vote, there's literally zero chance the Conservative MP does not win next election. But I may just go and vote anyways in order to help really rub it in that Canada is DONE with Trudeau and these progressive, stupid, policies that pander to minorities who are not even oppressed or socially/economically doing worse than your average Canadian. I want CANADIANS to be the ones who get policies that work for them! I want Poilievre to have as strong of a mandate as possible. 40% of the votes is not enough (though, historically, it probably will be ~38-45%). I'd love to see a MAJORITY of Canadian voters voting for the Conservatives/Poilievre so that the left can't even pull the "well they got less than 50% of the votes!!! Reeee!!" like they always do. Meanwhile Trudeau also got a majority with like 40% of the votes... But then you add the NDP+Green votes and it usually does come out to over 50%. Not this time, I hope!!
