Audio sounds nice. Amazed me modern day radio after my days of superhets and xtal filters and a BFO. . I built a SDR a few years ago , was impressed. Only SDR I have now is the G90. I do have RTL devices as well. It's far superior to what I was raised on. Thanks again for review.
I will never be able to retire at this rate.
Damn you Tech Minds 😁
Me neither
Very interesting to see this capability on some "entry level" SDRs.
I have only seen this done on some much higher end hardware before.
For example the AARONIA Spectran analyzers come with a very similar feature (with much greater bandwith and much faster sweeps) and a really nice "wrapped spectrum" feature that offer a very similar layout.
I had one but after 2 weeks it died so bit reticent to buy another. Maybe I was just unlucky but you need a fairly beefy pc to run 64 Mhz of bandwidth of course !
Can You Please Send Me The Bad One? I Could Try To Fix It And Use It, I Have No Money To Buy Myself One :(
@@frequencywatchersthis was a few years ago and of course I sent it back for a refund. It won't be much good unless you have a fast pc
That bandwidth is nuts!…thanks for sharing.
Interesting, thanks for reviewing this! I’m waiting for reviews of Rig Experts’ “Fobos SDR” before I buy any “all HF” SDR. It’s scheduled to become available in July and, while more expensive, I’m guessing it’s designed and built with much more care. Not to mention that I’d rather support a Ukrainian company than one in China.
That radio seems to be a crossover of the rx888 series recivers and hackrf.
I imagine that might be a little preoccupied with a war
@@senoJSR What do you mean? There are millions of people in Ukraine who still work their normal job every day.
@@AdrianBoykoyes if you look at olga Reznikova's clips you'd think there wasn't any war especially in Kiev
Very exciting, a video that also provides detailed information about the antenna you use for beginners would be very useful. Best regards
Crazy beautiful.. 60MHz on the lower frequency is insanely beautiful ♥️
Already on my radar to buy it..
This could be very useful, thanks for the video.
You're welcome
Looks useful for ALE!
Parabéns mais uma vez superando as novidades...top 73´s py3sa.
Nice find. Thanks!
Thanks for watching!
This is AWESOME! I’m planning a receive only antenna…. This excites my interest…. Oh no I’m gonna spend more money!!!
Bloody hell! I want one!
after your first video i bought one. fought with it for about 6 months thinking my amd 8 core and gtx1080ti would be enough. it wasnt. went and bought a 500 dollar laptop and it fixed all my stutter. on the old desktop with 32gb of ram i couldnt do more then 1mhz of bandwidth.
Was it a resource issue or something else? 8 cores and a 1080ti wasn't enough?!?
@@token112 8 cores of some ancient Sempron maybe weren't enough. :D But it really makes me wonder... My 13yo Sandy Bridge dual-core i3 can handle 14 MSps...
I have a KiwiSDR, this one looks great. Thanks for the coupon.
No problem 👍
I hope that there will be a version that has 4 receivers that run a single clock source, and contains internal calibration hardware to allow the phase relationship between channels to be measured precisely and corrected for. One can then use it for Radio Direction Finding.
Could be a game changer for monitoring ALE, HFDL and similar.
Decoding software which directly control the radio would be preferable, otherwise setting up lots of virtual audio cables would be very time consuming.
Any idea what would be involved in making one of these available to one of the “web sdr” networks?
Great video!
this would be interesting but doubt you would be able to do the full bandwidth
Your antenna appears to work really well. How high is it and how long is the wire
Luckily I recently made a video on the Antenna I am currently using: th-cam.com/video/p0s2rEcDiLs/w-d-xo.html
Nice!
SDR++ support when
What specs does your computer have to be to do all this?
It's possible to record IQ file of all the bandwidth at the same time????
64 MHz bandwidth - that's fantastic! You could setup your own web-SDR. But why not more bandwidth above HF - it would be nice to look at the entire 70cm band.
Here in the UK the 70cm band is 430 to 440 MHz, which is 10 Mhz bandwidth. The RX888 mk2 does do 10 Mhz bandwidth (MAX) on 70cm. However, cant listen to HF when in V/U. Cheers
@@TechMindsOfficial Really? Here in the U.S. the 70cm band is 420 to 450MHz, but the real action is only from ~430 to 450MHz.
WOW 64mHz- impressive, my SDRDuo is good for 10mHz. However I wonder how will the RX-88 stacks up against the SDRDuo in terms of other measures.
Nike bit of kit there
It's pretty darn good!
I think OpenWebRX is the only thing I know of that can auto hoover up a bunch of digital signals across a wide bandwidth without needing a million virtual audio cables. I wonder if it supports this unit.
This is a big question: when OPenWebRx(+) will support this device.
Does it work with OpenWebRX ? What about CPU power required (raspberry pi 4) ?
what antenna(s) would you recommend to exploit the RX888 Mk2
Fan Dipole or Log periodic.
Simon Brown is The Man!
Absolutely!
how much ram/cpu speed is your computer?
i9-14900KF, 32GB DDR5 Ram and a RTX4090 GPU
@@TechMindsOfficial That’s a lot better than what I’m running 😅
my pre-raedon fx-8300 gtx-1050ti 32gb or an hp 360 i5 with ibm gpu did not like it and had major stutter. ended up buying a asus rog laptop with rtx gpu and i7 processor. and it runs fine on my hp 14-ep0063c1 laptop that has 12gb ram an i3 and ibm gpu.

Another excellent informative video Mat.

I hope this will enough. RX888 Mk2 on order. I have a USB 3 Multihub with 45w power, I'll have to unplug all the other SDRs from it though.....
Doing this or similar 40 years ago with panoramic adapter on a general coverage RX. .ok it's inferior compared to this. But it worked. As I said not as good. That certainly looks good.
What's the difference between this MK2 & the one you did a year ago?
None, but I wasn’t able to show 64 MHz bandwidth in my last video, but now I can, so I did. Cheers
Lol I thought you knew about this a year ago. I'm not a content maker but a year go when i got mine i felt compelled to get the message out on this amazing ability so i put up some short videos of my own.
I'm wondering when you discover the multiple receivers at once feature :)
I did know about it back then, but only just got round to making a video on it lol..
Why are there 2 batches sold?
One for €330-400 and
the other for €188 !??
Wow, that's CRAZY! Could you RECORD the entire MW, HF band, etc all at once? How about sending a portion to text to speech, and recording that as a word file? You could look for key words then! Like I'm guessing "Nobody Special Around" does... Your own bloody Pocket Echelon!🤣 73 DE W8LV BILL
A similar possible instrument which can show all the possible radio frequencies will be good… in order to find any neuro striking wave around us.
this is awesome
Pfft, that's nowt new, The Fidelity 1000 and Binatone Route 66 were capable of receiving all HF bands more than 40 years ago.
Oooohhh Cybernet for the win!
no linux softw that works with the RX888 Mk2🤔
Looks really cool but the price will keep me without it.
Sir can you show your antenna and tuner configurations for this rig please?
Luckily I recently made a video on the Antenna I am currently using: th-cam.com/video/p0s2rEcDiLs/w-d-xo.html

Be a nice Addition to the SDR Play RSP2
Been Wanting A SDR That CAN SEE EVERYTHING in one go
Software support for this one is abysmal.
What about a proper professional operating system? Have you got it working under Linux?
Tx ? 😂
its a junk box
No, dynamic range will be useless.
@@RoelandJansen Not at all; I've owned two of these and each performed excellently with active (gain) loops such as the Wellbrook ALA100 and ALA1530, and passive antennas in a suburban Seattle environment (e.g., lots of RF around). The RX888 MKii SDR has the same LTC2208 ADC chip inside as the highly regarded WinRadio G33DDC Excalibur. The dynamic range is similar in these two SDRs. The main difference is that the RX888 MKii offloads the bulk of the DSP processing to your computer. That is a primary reason for the price difference between the two. I've used the G33DDC (a friend's) with the same antennas and found the two comparable on MW and HF. Bottom line-- dynamic range is not a problem for the RX888 MKii. It holds its own against my Perseus receiver also.
