  • Hello everyone. Here is the kiln opening with the pumpkins I made. The only problem is....the video cut out when I was unloading most of them, and I didn't realize it! Darn!!! You do see a couple of them, though. And there are some cool mugs, tumblers, and other goodies in the kiln that I think you'll really like.

Wow!! This entire load was absolutely beautiful!! I especially love your handbuilt pumpkins. I also watched the video of how you make them and I think I’ll give it a try. Can you tell us what glazes you used for the pumpkin cup that you said the glaze is green when it’s thick and thinner is orange? The colors are just awesome!! Thanks so much.

It's Western's Rusty Orange Art. #4551. It likes to run, but it's a beautiful glaze!

Thank you!! I paint mostly with Amaco Velvet Underglazes on bisqueware, and then apply a two coats of a zinc-free glaze over the top. I fire to cone 5. :-) Lisa

What is the dark clay that you're using Lisa?

Hi Denise. I am using Standard's 266 dark clay. It's really great to work with. I use it for handbuilding as well as wheelthrowing, and it rarely ever cracks. It is a clay that does not like to be fired higher than cone 5. (I've had it bloat at cone 6.) Sorry for the delayed response, I just realized I had comments on my videos! I'll have to figure out why TH-cam didn't notify me. Good luck with your pottery! It's so much fun!! Lisa
