I’m an Indian and I have been following Pakistani domestic affairs and history for over a decade now. The constitutional questions particularly interest me because I’m also a practising lawyer. Salman Akram Raja is one of my favourite lawyers in Pakistan. I’ve greatly enjoyed all your content. Thanks. ❤
Through this converstation, Salman Akram Raja has ripped apart the judiciary and system of Pakistan as well as the whole narrative of PDM government against Imran Khan. Hats off to his knowledge and cognition level.
Delighted listening to Salman Akram Raja. Happy to see there are people like him in the system who keep their head in the game without being distracted by emotions. "Mistake of someone doesn't give you right to do wrong as well". I hope Shehzad will keep this in mind next time making a falacy arguement.
Salman Akram Raja, you are one of the finest and brilliant mind in Pakistan, Please lead our nation to better Pakistan, I have full confidence you, you can du much bigger for Pakistan than you think
This session should be used as a guidance for would be law students, law students and people with open mind and clear thinking who can differentiate the finer concepts of segregation of issues and its implications. Great session, very good job.
Few well educated in Pakistan . But they are sidelined. Unless have political backing. Rich have it. Most Pakistanis talk like Lucknowi not punjabis. They are ashamed of punjabi. They have recreated Lucknow in lahore. Sad. Lahore was amritsar like. Its become a UP town . Oversea Pakistanis are shocked to hear indian punjabis fluent confident punjabi. They start crying. They realise its been ages since they spoke their own language. They have tears in their eyes, they realise they killed their language, identity. Its not an exaggeration. They feel punjabi but they cant own punjabi language. Dance, food culture of Punjab has been suppressed .
Despite the podcast's intellectual content and Mr. Salman's insightful information about our judicial system, one notable observation is that the host consistently centers most questions around Imran Khan. This approach seems to paint a picture as if Imran Khan is solely responsible for all wrongdoing and he is corrupt while other leaders are portrayed as innocent and they had done nothing.
he was constantly trying to vindicate nawaz. shamelessly defending him with his witty replies. But at the end of the day, you are clever or stupid. Your bias makes you do stupid things
I am typically against your biased questions, but today I learnt a lot from Salman Akram Raja... Again Not because of your questions , it's mainly how he answers with such an elaboration...
If you find questioning to be biased, question your cult mentality. Questions should not anger any critical Thinker. If our platform was biased, we wouldn't have invited SAR.
Salman is undoubtedly one of the sharpest minds and a tremendous asset to the country. I am genuinely impressed by the speed with which he processes, analyzes, and presents arguments. The episode was an absolute pleasure to watch, and I encourage everyone to do the same and learn from it. That being said, I respectfully disagree with the analysis of Article 63-A. In my view, it is a critical safeguard against horse trading by notoriously dishonest and corrupt politicians. The argument that it restricts a member’s freedom of conscience by forcing them to vote strictly along party lines, even in cases of disagreement, is misguided. On the contrary, I believe it upholds the fundamental rights of the people. Voters make their choices based on the party’s policies and promises, not just individual candidates. Article 63-A ensures that the mandate given by the voters to the party remains intact, preserving the platform they endorsed during the election. However, the protection of fundamental rights is all too rare among the ruling elite. Thank you for a truly thought-provoking presentation.
Not gonna lie these discussion requires more knowledge and understanding than I have. This is definitely an episode that require a rewatch or multiple rewinds to truly understand for common person.

A very interesting overview of Pakistan’s legal system by Salman Akram Raja, one of Pakistan’s leading lawyers today. He covers a wide range of issues, including the structure of the judiciary, the elevation to the superior courts and the formation of benches, the overly intrusive role of the establishment, the bad judgements as a result to the intrusion, as well as some biased benches, and yet his belief that we must accept the SC judgements and must not be selective in doing so, as otherwise it can only lead to the complete breakdown of order. *Equally impressive are the quality of questions raised by Shehzad Ghias Shaikh, the podcast host, he has done excellent homework before hosting this talk*. Something he always does before his podcasts on a variety of subjects. *Pakistan’s hope of breaking out of our dismal situation, is our youth like him*.
Keshvanand Bharti Vs. Union of India is a landmark judgement, heard by the largest constitutional bench of 13-judge, it came during a time when there was a tussle going on between Indian Parliament, led by the then Prime Minister of India Indira Gandhi, who made many significant changes in the constitution, and Supreme Court. There are many series of judgements before the Keshvananda Judgement, where Parliament would amend the constitution then Supreme Court would struck down the said amendment citing the unconstitutionality of the amendment. Finally, in the Keshvananda case Supreme Court said to the Parliament cool bro make as many changes as you can but dare not touch the Basic Structure of the constitution. Though Supreme Court didn't define what exactly Basic Structure is but through the precedents and various case laws it is not a settled position that Secularism, Parliamentary System, Federalism etc are Basic Structure. If Parliament ever passes any such law which challenges the Basic Structure, it will be held unconstitutional.
