Barry, you lucky man out there, taking care of real life. ..the pirate ship radio adventure in the Red Sea it was GREAT, my sincere compliments...and when i see you playing with a rope and a tree, you're still safe, the kid inside is still safe! A big smile :-)) Fair Winds ;-)
Barry. You really are a legend. Sailing legend, radio legend, rescue legend. And I am quite sure a legendary friend to many. Thanks for sharing. Stay safe my friend....you the man. And a great mate to all ... cheers.
Thank you! I was a child in Israel. Listening to your music 🎵 ! And now I am an grown-up child,, Listening to your sailing channel again! A. B. Nathan was a great Man! Thank you from a Israeli friend
Wow, Barry, "From somewhere in the Mediterranean, we are the Voice Of Peace on 1540 Khz.... Peace is the word and the Voice Of Peace is the station 24 hours a day". Unbelievable!, you have managed to take me back years, with a wide smile. I used to listen to this amazing radio station. I might have heard that radio station when our ship was in the Levant time to time in the 80’s We spent a lot of time off Lebanese coast. Hook up our receiver to a 40or 50 foot long wire
Been watching your videos for just over a year now which inspired me to start looking for my own boat to live aboard and sail! 2 weeks ago I bought said boat and so the journey has begun! Thank you Barry for your fantastic content and the inspiration to change life styles!
The Voice of Peace: I listened to it daily while peacekeeping in Israel and Egypt in the late 70’s/early 80’s! Never thought I would run into someone that worked onboard! “ the voice of peace… Coming to you from somewhere in the Mediterranean!” Thank you Barry!
Richard I think that if you want Barry to actually see your comment you should look where he himself has commented or replied to someone and then he's likely to see what you said
I can't believe that you were a DJ on the Voice of Peace off the coast of Israel! Back in the 80's I lived in Israel and listened to the Voice of Peace every night. My now husband and I sailed around the vessel while you were drifting offshore. Your broadcasts and Abe Natan were legendary.
Ahhh New Zealand.... can't think of of more beautiful place to be stranded - with the bonus of having the nicest people ever. Glad you enjoyed ' those moments' to put in your memory bank.
1978-1980 My wife listened to the Voice of Peace radio in Israel. She was an American girl living in Israel and it was one of the only English speaking stations. She loved it.
Pirate radio, wow thats a blast from the past. Remember radio Caroline. Good old days before the world went political. Keep them coming Barry, stay safe mate
As a radiojock for 40 years in Belgium now and a radiopirate in the early 80s...and later on MiAmigo International in Spain....this video was the best.
I grew up listening to music "From somewhere in the Mediterranean, we are the Voice of Peace" - The best music in the entire Middle East in those days!.
Hey! Great episode as always - watching you from Atlanta before heading home to the Netherlands (despite being an Aussie). So I work in cement and concrete - it’s quite easy, limestone is put through a crusher, into the kiln at around 1400 degrees, baked so Alite becomes Blite, and then makes clinker which with a few extra little ingredients like gypsum etc, it goes through a mill and voila, you have cement. 🤗
Hey!!! I was listening to it every day. I am from Israel... And right now the voice of peace will shut down it's transmission for a period of one minute... Sweet memory... You are a part of history!!!
Was fascinated to see the remains of the pirate Radio ship. I often listened to Radio Hauraki from Australia. It was on a clear channel and quite easy to receive in the evening. Many memories. Thanks Barry!
I didn't realize until I saw that picture of you, young, on the Peace Boat, that you are an old man like me. Good show, old man. Keep sailing. It is keeping you young and fresh as the morning air.
Get one of those cheap plastic cutting boards and slice it into a triangle that will fit in the space under the chain drop hole, mount it at an angle and the chain should slide further aft instead of bunching up right under the deck chain hole... When we wanted cool drinks or just needed to 'refrigerate' food in brutally hot weather, we tied a doubled up heavy duty trash bag full of goodies to the spare mushroom anchor and lowered it down to a couple of feet off the bottom. It's always cold down there, except in an enclosed, shallow atoll... 😁
I'm 51 and used to sail with my friend and his parents as a teenager. I'm looking for my first sailboat to do some coastal cruising along the east coast of the USA. Eventually when I retire I want to do what you're doing and said around the world just meeting new people and cultures. It just seems like a blast.
I sure enjoy your videos about places and things I’ve not experienced. What a joy to be an armchair traveler with the feast of videos like yours. I’ve seen your total output and look forward to every new posting! Keep up the great work!
I admire your confidence when you go ashore leaving Shaddy swinging on the hook, she is all you have. I would not be able to relax till I was back on board !!
I was birthed next to the M.V. Tiri in the old Viaduct Basin in Auckland - fond memories , Good nights . A Kid & a swing - Thats a holiday , Are you heading south ?- Fair Winds .
Suggestion: when paddling a kayak, fix your knees under the gunwales. When you paddle, lift the knee on the side that you are paddling against the gunwale. This prevents the kayak from tipping and allows you to use more of your whole body into supplying force to the paddles. I was able to kayak the coast of Maine without running out of steam right away. That time came after a 20+ mile stretch without a single pullout and 8 meter swells. Got out of the kayak, legs collapsed and face first into the water.
I've said it once so I'll say it again, Barry you have things to easy, it's time to find a Mrs. Barry!!! Young sweet Kiwi woman would be just the ticket :)
Been following you since day 1 Barry and I can't believe what you've said about being a DJ on the voice of peace..I grew up in Israel and listened every morning going to school.. What a small world...btw love the videos looking forward to more adventures
Good one! Loved seeing the wild Phormiums and Cordylines...what a country! You trapping you finger reminded me of the time I was bent over weeding in the garden and stood on my own hand, I tried to stand up and couldn't, because I was standing on my own hand...doh! Great vid...
I've watched just about all your videos.. mostly on a binge and this one is about my favorite! You really are having a fascinating life..I hope you write a book one day..happy trails 🤗
No wonder your videos are so cool. You have great editing skills, the tunes rock, esp the blues music, and that voice of yours is always soothing to listen to. Radio voice ~
You're definitely an interesting bloke, Seadog. Fun to hear a little history. You map joke gave me an out loud chuckle! Also enjoyed seeing the kid in you that you had to test out the swing. I hope your finger is okay. Smashing ANY digit is always extremely painful; more than worthy of swear words! Save travels!
That brought back some memories! In the 80s I spent about a year as a volunteer worker on Kibbutz Revadim in Israel and the Voice of Peace was our regular, after work listening so I may well have heard some of your broadcasts. Happy days!
Rain gives you a chance to scrub down the deck (LOL). Travelling alone does have its drawbacks but at least you don't have to listen to anyone saying; 'i,ma goin' to die' everytime a 6 foot wave comes by :)

Shipwreck, ghost town and pirates, OH MY!!!
I loved the Pirate Radio story. Who knew? Very Cool, and you were so young. 👏
Funny, I listened to "The Voice of Peace" when I was stationed in Lebanon as a soldier.
For us Swedish UN peacekeepers in the Sinai Desert in the 1970s, Voice of Peace was the favorite radio station to tune in. Thanks Barry!
O Json , you scroll up or down to where Barry has made with actual comment or reply he's more likely to see what you just said
Wow, Barry,
"From somewhere in the Mediterranean, we are the Voice Of Peace on 1540 Khz.... Peace is the word and the Voice Of Peace is the station 24 hours a day".
Unbelievable!, you have managed to take me back years, with a wide smile.
I used to listen to this amazing radio station.
I remember your main commercial:
"Drink cool, refreshing water, there's nothing better for you we say. Drink water today" (I guess beer is now recommended).
I've seen all the TH-cam videos, and always waiting for the next one.
Thank you, for all your TH-cam videos.
And from the depths of my heart, I wish you : May all your wishes come true.

Wow, you might of heard me in 1983
Same here , was in Israel in 84 and listened to the Voice of Peace , also seen the ship

Hahahaha bravo 👏
Good point!

Great video, Barry! (Remember, alcohol is an agricultural product. It's vital that we all do our part to support farmers!)
With the snow on the ground now I feel much warmer after watching another stellar vid.
I used to listen to the voice of peace back in the mid 1970s. Totally forgot all about it. The memories are now flooding back!!!
Love the Pirate Radio story. You are definitely living the dream sir!
Cheers from Southern California USA 🇺🇸 ~
Love the old DJ (or YOUNG DJ) photo!! Thanks for sharing it Barry!

Voice of peace unheard at the moment.
