Would you try any of these retro kitchen gadgets?? Thank you all for the love and support on the new content, the response has been overwhelming and means so much to me. I'm working on some REALLY cool stuff this year, especially once my kitchen film studio is done! Thanks again!
@@erinclarke2539 Was I using it wrong? We tried SO many apples off camera and could never get it to work 100% right unless the apple was a very specific size.
For the apple peeler, you need to remember that apples were NOT the HUGE breeds that we have today. They were small. Probably as small as a pool/snooker ball. So, when you load today's oversized apples, it overwhelmed the gadget. You're lucky you got it to work at all.
I am just starting the video and came to see if anyone had mentioned this already 😊Could be true about the cherries as well. Food was not “enhanced” back then.
Also, thia peelers were made to "pop off" the apple at the end, so you need to "wind" the peeler to the right position or the peeler will just throw the apple off before finishing.
the way mike casually plop the wooden spoon into Ro's apron pocket and just walk off camera with "dont mind me ,just love teasing my gf "vibes.🤣 and Mike Laughing so hard with the tomato bit.
My grandma had a lot of these and she still regularly used them until she died in the early 2000s. I loved “helping her” with the hand sifter when I was little. Thanks for the nostalgia Ro 😊
When I was little my mother had a hand sifter like your green one. Hers was just silver metal with a red, wooden handled crank. It was my job to sift the dry ingredients whenever she made cookies. My grandmother had a manual hand mixer, but without the splatter guard like the one you tried. Worked a charm as long as the butter was very softened. The neighbors had a Veg-O-Matic. Even brand new, out of the box, it just mashed tomatoes. But it worked great for potatoes, onions, green peppers, carrots and other sturdier veggies and fruits. Loved this trip down memory lane.
The coconut grater is still used in many households in India specially south India as their many of their food dishes uses coconut as an ingredient❤. Also loved that metalic cookie gun as its a great investment plus a bit environment friendly ❤
Almost every house in Sri Lanka still uses this tool too, for all the delicious curries!! And I was surprised since the box had lettering and everything from Sri Lanka.
0:404:45. 17:26. 😂. All of mikes incredible celeb moments in this family togetherness. Living his best life.and having a good cry lol I need more of this. Five stars
I'm old!!!! My grandfather used the apple peeler. Used various versions of the hand mixer, the one handed sifter, cookie gun, Veg-A-Matic, (it worked really well on every hard vege, diced onions in seconds), we thought about the Cook-n-Stir but never got one Your best cooking gadget tests are with Mo and iJustine. Always laugh when you're with either one.
We have that coconut shredding gadget at home only its manual without the crank. You have to scrape the coconut against it yourself My mom uses it everytime she needs dessicated coconut. It is pretty useful
Growing up, I had a cookie gun and we used to mostly use it in the holidays to make Christmas cookies. I always would help my dad every single holiday and we would make jello cookies and use the cookie gun like the one that looks like a snowflake or the tree for the holidays. They were always a hit within my close family. I need to remember to invest in one. Thanks Ro and Mo for this video, I love these kind of videos!!❤️ Also: 🥔🥔🥔
My mom still has that nut chopper! It works best when you have more than 1 or 2 nuts in it. We use it all the time, especially for nut chopping for cookie making.
I’m so happy you’re back on my feed! I literally grew up watching you I wanted to be a baker with my sister so bad. I am now 20 yrs old and I remember watching the iPhone cake thinking I can do that 😭😭🙏
This video was really fun! I loved seeing all the different gadgets from the different eras. You guys bring so much joy to my day! Thank you for the awesome video! 😁
love your videos! i’ve been watching you since nerdie nummies and can’t wait to see the finished new kitchen! i’ve loved watching you grow and look forward to seeing all of your masterpieces in the future!
10:17 I have the old version of this sifter. I don’t remember when or where my mom got it, but we’ve had it for many many many years, and we use it anytime we make sandtarts, or any type of cookie you roll out and cut shapes out of. We also have a bigger sifter basket type thing, but we never use it. I wish my mom would use it because it just sits in our cabinet and never gets used for anything at all.
As a Sri Lankan, the coconut shredder was used in traditional ages. And we still use it. We used it like we were high! We would have competitions to see who can shred the coconut faster. Blast !! 😂🎉😊
I've used almost all of these with either my great grandmother or grandmother. We used to process a whole winter's worth of food while canning in the fall, and even the ones that are a little disappointing were still better than nothing!
My mom has made spritz cookies for Christmas as long as I can remember and different plastic parts on her cookie presses would always break. So, a few years ago I bought her an all metal one, (don’t remember if it was a vintage one or a modern one from a nice brand) and she loves it.
As a kitchen gadget junkie...I'm excited for this! I had to add...my mom made my sister and I aprons like those BUT you could button it up to make a Holly Hobbie Bonnet ❤😊
When I tell you I want to be a Ro, but I am 100% a Molly 🤣😂 “I’m going to slip and cut my hand off!” And holding Ro back while she’s all Willy nilly on the apple thing 😮💨 I love videos with both of you guys!
If Rosanna hears Mike laughing in his sleep she'll know why , the tomato squirting everywhere is going to be his number one visual memory for a very long time 😂
Ngl, I completely understand why so many kitchen gadgets today are electric (i.e. easier to use & more convenient), but I wish there were still more gadgets that were manual lol.
love your kitchen gadget videos green looks so pretty knew the first one as my grandma had it they had neat gadgets and they lasted the only issue a lot had lead in them i love my push whisk, handy sift but hard to clean
I'm 48 and I used that hand blender, sifter, and nut chopper when I was learning to bake with my Nana. Dude, I'm feeling old and most of those were before my time, but still grew up on them.
Haven't watched this channel in years and it just kinda popped into my head, "I wonder if these people still post" while going through the old youtubers I used to watch. Old being relative because some being older or younger than others
I have 3 of the gadgets from my grandma. The sifter is a gem! My nut chopper works well so I think your blade needs sharpening, and the whisk works well for multiple things
The whisk with the red handle was making the _worst_ sound. It felt like my ears were bleeding 😩 but lol the way Mike laughed when the tomato was destroyed 😂 I need a part 2.

Yesss😊
Love your content Ro! Thanks For this ❤❤❤❤❤
I love you 💕
My grandparents had the same apple peeler at their house! It was fun to see it again. 😊
@@erinclarke2539 Was I using it wrong? We tried SO many apples off camera and could never get it to work 100% right unless the apple was a very specific size.
I don't think I've ever heard Mike laugh as hard as he did at that tomato.
Same his laugh was the loudest one out of all his laugh before 😂
The tomato felt very bullied

Exacly, the apple tree in my garden produces apples half the size of the ones I can get at the grocery store
🥔🥔🥔🥔🥔🥔🥔🥔🥔🥔🥔🥔🥔🥔🥔😀😃😅🤣😂🫠
Also the blade is dull.
Also, thia peelers were made to "pop off" the apple at the end, so you need to "wind" the peeler to the right position or the peeler will just throw the apple off before finishing.

Mo is definitely a mom. "Don't stick your fingers in there!" 🤣

My parents got a Veg-o-matic as a wedding gift in 1973. They still have it, and I used it growing up to make homemade french fries. Love that machine!

My mom had the same sifter! I used to play with it and sift flour just for fun. Now I need to find one of my own!
this was so much fun and I have never seen most of these gadgets. I flour one I actually own as well
Fun fact! The Cornwall appliances that you guys tried out are probably manufactured in my small town of Cornwall, Ontario!
