The last live-action adaptation of Disney that I enjoyed enough to rewatch was Cinderella. Lily James was perfect in the role, and it really captured everything I loved about the original as a kid. Each one since has had one thing or another about it that was silly. And it's gotten worse as they've gone along. Although I dislike the live-action Beauty and the Beast overall, I really enjoyed Lefou and Gaston. Surprise surprise, they were the only characters played by seasoned stage actors.
The thing that bothers me most is that it's so low effort. When I think of race swaps done right, I think of something like _The Wiz,_ which took a classic story and filtered it entirely through an urban African-American lens, the entire thing was reimagined. When you just swap one character and keep the European story the same, it's jarring. Like when _The Little Mermaid_ came out, I said it would have been better if they had completely reimagined the story to take place somewhere like the Caribbean and really commit to changing everything. Heck, I've seen _Hamlet_ reimagined as taking place in feudal Japan, you can filter European stories through another cultural filter, but you have to commit to it entirely and not half ass it like Disney does.

I still can't believe this movie is being slated for theatrical release. The potential audience have spoken, as have the test screeners. I think at this point, the sensible option is just to cancel the release&associated promotions before Disney loses MORE money on a movie nobody will watch. Hook was way different. It was a what if Peter Pan grew up story. Peter was a dad and had to get his kids back from Hook. It was not a live action remake.

The only live action remake I like is the 101 Dalmatians from the 90s, the one with Glenn Close as Cruella.
The black Cinderella movie was largely accepted because you could take one look at it and it'd be obvious they chose Whitney Houston and Brandy for their singing talent.

Walt Disney created his successful film catalog with animated movies. It was the Disney brand signature product. Moving to live action has not been successful. Anybody who runs a business can immediately see the problem. But not the new Disney.

Think about what was being said, “white washing Snow White.” A character who is named Snow White because her skin is white as snow ❄️. Disney has clearly screwed themselves with this one. I was originally interested in the live action remakes and hoping to see some. However the further they went through the list of titles, the more I dread what comes next. Hook, was Columbia/Sony Pictures production; Stephen Spielberg did take inspiration from the Disney animated film of Peter Pan and the original book, he originally wanted to do straight forward Peter Pan, but someone showed him the script to Hook instead. Funny enough because of Hook, I wanted a live action version of the Disney animated movie; until I saw the preview of Peter and Wendy, I thought kill me now.

It’s incredible how still after all these years just how beautiful the animation of the original Snow White still holds up. Ziegler’s portrayal will be forgotten as fast as Dustborn.

I think at this point, the sensible option is just to cancel the release&associated promotions before Disney loses MORE money on a movie nobody will watch.

How funny would it be if they actually did put the live action version of snow white in the parks but it was played by a white woman. Could you imagine seeing poc losing it over a character being white even though the original version of the character is white. 😂 I kind of want to see them do it just for laughs. It would be so hypocritical but then again most DEI related stuff is anyway so.. I still can't get my head around the fact that we have two versions of the same character walking around the parks right now, a white Ariel and a black Ariel. Because that's not confusing for little kids is it. Why not double down and have two versions of snow white and confuse the kids even more, it's a clown show.

I’m gonna say something that Lorena Creol said when she was on her OK not on her but on WDW pros video she said that they shouldn’t put the live action characters in the park regardless of who they are including abomination Ariel yes I said no I don’t care because that confuses kids. No one goes to see abomination Ariel they go straight to real Ariel. Kids are not stupid. They know the difference between the real thing and a cheap, knock off and it’ll just be confusing if they decide to put snow not white in the parks with snow White nobody wants abomination Ariel nobody’s gonna want snow not white I mean don’t put action characters in in the first place and won’t have this problem actually don’t remake classics leave them alone and you won’t have this problem.
I know Disney can make an original new IP. But when you look at the box office. Sometimes, small original films just don't perform well at the domestic box office. Also, Disney saw dollar signs in China, but they also had sensors, their movie for that market. They just can't win anymore. Just wish they would give up on this stuff.

This will have a hard time beating the upcoming movie: Snow Tatted White and the Seven Radical Gamers. I hear the sequel: Journey to Save the Tomb Raider will be even better.
