1/2 cup cornstarch
1/4 t. Salt
1/4 c. confectioners sugar
1 c. unsalted butter
room temp
1 t. vanilla
divide, roll, chill, cut, chill, bake 350
10 minutes
roll in confectioners sugar

This is the kind of cookie that I put in my tongue and take a sip of coffee and let it roll over my tongue. Milk works too! 🤪🌺
❤️❤️❤️. My Grandma made these and they are fantastic! (She frosted them). My uncle called them Little Nothings because of the melting goodness! 🥰. He claimed because they disappeared so fast he needed another one…and another …. 😁

Ms Lori. this is one of my most favorite cookies to make at the holidays. My Mom made this recipe every year for Christmas. She did them as a drop cookie & after they were cool she'd put a small amt of butter cream frosting on them & top them with either a piece of walnut or half a maraschino cherry. I hope you & Mr. Brown have a blessed Christmas & a very happy new year.

I will certainly look forward to trying this recipe and possibly adapting it for my diabetic loved ones. I have time to think it over as my oven died on me earlier this week when I was making a large batch of cookies. I'm assuming about 3 months to replace it so plenty of time to think this over. My 90 year-old friend refers to this as character building. MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL IN THE WHIPPERWILL HOLLER FAMILY!
I love melting moments cookies. I used to take a teaspoon or 2 of orange juice and mix with alittle confectioners sugar and make a light glaze and drizzle it over the cookies. Then take a tiny bit of finely zested orange zest and put on each one. Sooo good. Thanks for sharing Mrs. Lori! I had almost forgotten about them!! Merry Christmas to the Brown family!!

I am going to give these a try. I had a Christmas cookie book that I lent to a friend who somehow lost it and I have never been able to find that book again. But the point is that it had a recipe for the best shortbread cookies that I have ever made or had and I have not found another recipe that comes close. I made the stuffed celery and everything bagel sprinkles for my Winter Solstice Fire Party and they were a hit - making the sausage bites for New Years. Definitely making these cookies for Christmas Day.
Mr. Brown you could pop the cookie in your mouth then take a swig of coffee no dunking needed!

These are one of my favorites not only at Christmas, but all year!! My neighbor makes a chocolate version which are very tasty as well. Had to laugh when you were talking about using the "new mixer". Bought one of those fancy pants (Kitchen Aid) mixers many years ago. I gave it three tries and into the back of the pantry it went. Haven't used it since 2009!! Guess I should get it out, dust it off and try to sell it - LOL!! My "go-to" mixer is the Kitchen Aid Hand Held 9 speed. I use that little work horse at least twice a week. LOVE it!! I also love your three-tiered cookie rack - - need to search for that!! LOVE your videos - - Merry Christmas!!!

Hi Mrs. Lori. Butter cookies are very good, and I like them because they are not overly sweet. Mr. Brown you could use a spoon to aid in dunking your cookies. Pecan Sandie are heavier. The cornstarch is the magic. Very different structure.
Pecan sandies or snowballs is what we call them are our favorite 😋 They are so addictive my mom and I both can't stop eating them.😜 I'm gonna try this recipe to compare 😋☺🙂
We call the pecan shortbread cookies also Mexican Wedding Cookies.

I have a Christmas cookie recipe called Butter Balls that I make every year - and the are perfect with coffee. I'm going to try mixing yours and that one and it's not even Christmas anymore - there's just nothing better with a cup of coffee in the morning, especially if they're tiny!
One thing I discovered just last year - apparently the key to how the Scots make their shortbread so good is that they leave it out to dry. I tried doing that overnight and it really did make a difference (although sometimes I can't wait and chilling the dough is all I can do!). You probably already knew that but it was new to me after making these for years in southern Ohio & Indiana. Thanks so much for this and I'm glad your Christmas was merry and full of God's blessings - and nice and buttery sweet!
and p.s. I definitely need me one of those cooling racks. That thing is amazing.
